Items that I am replacing this weekend.

Valve Cover w/ VC Gasket
The valve cover gasket was replaced earlier prior to my trip from Ontario to British Columbia. However, the PCV pickup nipple was already faulty regardless of the fact that I had glued it back twice. I think this was the reason why my intake was sucking up a lot more oil than what it should have.

Crank Angle Sensors x 2
Eccentric Shaft Sensor
Map Sensor

Most importantly, the VANOS bolts do not look like they have any sign of backing out. I'm not going to touch what's not broken but I did buy the replacement bolts.

You did an excellent job of rebuilding the headlights, it really looks like new. I took the liberty of editing your photos a little so that the before and after state is immediately visible. I used a simple editor and free background remover. You inspired me to get my headlights in order. So I will share my photos shortly.

Just want to report back that the new valve cover, and components have been put on.
The car drives much more smoothly! No more RPM dip from 1st to 2nd that made it hard to shift.

I am waiting on an K+Dan cable so I can start to go through everything with INPA.

I'm also awaiting some new Vanos filters.

Really happy!

ok.... so i drove the car again this morning and it seems like the bog has happened again... I really need that INPA cable to diagnose the car.

I've bought a dud cable from this amazon seller, and the first time i connected it to my pc - it didn't work. the sent a replacement and still no luck.
I ended up ordering a new one from bimmert00ls...

I'm fairly confident I don't have a vacuum leak but I don't know.
I'm fairly confident I don't have an exhaust leak, but I also don't know.

I need all of these small issues to be resolved asap. I need to go on a 1500km drive for Christmas up into the Mountains of British Columbia and the thought of being stranded is terrifying.

Just get the bimmergeeks protools app and their cable.

A cheap android tablet and keep it in the glovebox or cargo area.

I double checked the nuts and bolts on the intake manifold side to make sure there wasn't a leak.

I also took off the MAF sensor and cleaned it with sensor spray.

I disconnected and reconnected the battery, and connected carista.
It looks like bank 2 post cat o2 sensor is reading an error...

So it looks like whilst driving in anger, something got loose on the exhaust side.
This will explain the bog, and it may explain the jumpy idle, as well as me seeing some exhaust ploom moving out of the hood during the weekend drive.

I just got the bimmergeeks INPA cable and I don't seem to be able to get it to work properly... Not the most ideal thing to trouble shoot the back-end command line of Windows boot .dll's etc etc

I would recommend using the standalone ISTA instead. Easier to set up and better interface and capabilities

With the car sitting idle again,

I changed the Vanos Solenoid - Non-return filters with new OEM ones.

Honestly a little bit upset by BMW plastics...
I had an orange oil light come up and it was confusing the heck out of me.... I just put in new oil.

I purchased a new oem oil level sensor. Since the car is jacked up, now is the time. The new replacement sensor had a black gasket where as the old one had an orange one, not sure if they are different materials.

This was the fault. The plastic had broken off and a piece was probably floating around in my engine, in the oil.... it better not clog the filter/mesh @ the oil pump pickup....

Soooo

The car has been running pretty good.

I did a full INPA sweep with re-adaptations via another website. Step-by-Step instructions. With that being said... I suspect that I still have a lingering voltage issue with an aftermarket fuel pump, so i'll need to switch back to an OEM one, or an upgrade 'stage 2' one in the near future.

In the meantime, the only code that is showing up is '9510-9520' which is the generic code for a DSC issue. I'm going to have to take apart the clock spring and clean it up.

After that, I can install some MODS!!!! Finally haha

soooo.

Thats the one that actually works on my 2009 LCI. I have two of these since the seller sent me double.

the one that i bought from bimmergeeks fails - INPA doesn't find the cable.

I will also comment that the INPA re adaptations didn't really go according to plan.
There was supposed to be some time when the o2 sensors were meant to heat up to 30-60% etc after idle or running, and i didn't get anything past 5%.

So things that are on the list to do with existing parts

Interior:
Root Eonon Head Unit for faster, more reasonable speed.
Detail the interior of the car after winter.
Fix the broken cargo cover that won't latch onto the chassis anymore
Fix the tab that keeps the cargo cover horizontal, it walks up as I'm driving
Replace Armrest

Exterior:
Removing the existing clear bra
Paint repair in a lot of places. Huge number of scratches
Overall paint correction and polish
Front lower grill replacement

Engine Bay:
Fix the wiring harness connector that goes over the engine. Its zip-tied atm... not a good solution.

The car, in my dark underground parking hiding all the blemishes of 13 years of driving.

The lower grille next to the fog light is broken, and the fog has condensation so i'll need to pull off the fenders to do some work - apply some love.

Picked up some replacement grilles.

Did some Vinyl work

And they are ready to be put on!

The detailer who ceramic coated my car recommended those products as well. They have been working great for me so far.

Thanks. I really like the fact that you can water it down by their ratios and the product still works as intended.
