This statement is true, but misleading as, you my friend surely are not counting the cost of the Green Frog

i calculated that it costs me about $1k to $1.2k on average for every day i spend on the track. i'd be much richer if i stopped tracking lol.... tracking is almost as bad as crack.

Don't forget to top off the flux capacitor and change the headlight fluid. Can save you a few secs per lap!

Fall Road Trip Announcement Sep 29/30
just wanted to let you guys know about a road trip i am going to do on the weekend of sep 29/30. i'll be going down to new hampshire to stay at an inn that a relative of mine manages. a friend of mine (Diego and his girlfriend) with an e92 black m3 will be coming along. i am bringing the wife and the green frog. i will be plotting out a nice little route with lots of twisties and back road driving. we might stop by at an outlet mall in new hampshire for the ladies along the way. i am open to suggestions of where you guys want to stop if youre tagging along for the trip. tony, fahad and niqui has been down to francestown before with me and we always have a really nice time doing the drive down. we have found some very nice routes along the way that have kept me going back to there for the past 3 years. plan is to leave Montreal early AM on Saturday (Sep 29) and be back in town by Sunday evening (Sep 30) by about 7 or 8pm. here's a link to the inn (Inn at Crotched Mountain, Francestown, New Hampshire): http://www.innatcrotchedmt.com

Speaking of modding, finally put coilovers on the wife's car (amusing that she got coilovers before I did). Drop is even lower than before (I think I was dropped 25mm before, pretty sure I'm around 50mm lower than stock right now), and the car certainly feels every single damn crack in the road... but holy shit, the handling is like 10x improved now. It's so nimble now that I can probably slalom at 100 km/h. And this is on winter tires! (I shudder at the thought of how stiff it will be on lower profile summers... will find out in a week). The amusing thing is my R, with its relatively hard suspension (some guy on the forums was selling an R suspension that he "tried and found to be way too hard" on his GTI - oh, little does he know) feels like a complete BOAT. Zig-zagging on the road has so much body roll (comparatively, anyway) that I feel like the car would flip if I did it hard enough. I guess a set of KWs is due for the R... maybe after the winter, though. Wonder if I should get the ones with the iPhone adjustable settings :P

i am surprised that coil overs made your mini so stiff... on my KWs, i played with the damping and rebound settings for a week until i was happy with it. the end result was pretty good. i had a car that was basically as comfortable as stock but with much much less body roll when cornering. my suggestion is to play around with the settings for a week to find your sweet spot. i dont know how yours is adjusted but it was a lot of hassle to adjust mine. i had to take off my wheels everytime i wanted to change a setting but it was definitely worth it to 'tune' the suspension. the suspension tuning capability of a coil over is what makes the whole set up so sweet.

Mine are even worse. The adjustment knobs of the rears are on top of the strut tower. ... and yes, there is a piece of metal right above it. So you can't really adjust them unless you cut a hole in the metal or unscrew the top strut tower mounts (i.e. half-disassemble the coilovers in the rear), which I'm too lazy to do, so I'm going to leave them I think. Or maybe I'll do one adjustment and slightly turn towards soft. But I don't even know - I might just be overstating it based on the half an hour drive back home. I think I need to drive it a bit more to confirm - and the best part of it is that the wife drove the car to work this morning and hasn't complained yet about the stiffness, so maybe it's not too bad.
