best so far is $3,180 for 6/100 platinum on '08 335i sedan, from BMW of SFO. But I was mostly shopping for 7/100 gold -- you should try contacting BMW of Bloomfield, they gave me a price on that one that was $175 less than the dealer that quoted me the above price on the plat 6/100, so they may well be lower on that one, as well.

Got quoted by the SA in New Century BMW:
5/100k = $2580 7/100k = $3490 The SA said there are no taxes for the extended warranty. |

http://www.boe.ca.gov/pdf/pub119.pdf BTW, if asked, BMW of SFO will take $200 off those prices Don't know if they will do it for out-of-area customers, though. I got a discount quote just by walking in and asking. |

This morning I emailed a few dealerships my E91's VIN (still under 4/50 warranty) asking for a GOLD extended warranty quote.
My 328 is in category A, per post #86, and the MSRPs for GOLD warranties, as of Jan. 2010, are: 7/70 $2880 7/100 $3230 BMW of Austin was the first callback, with a quote of: 7/70 $2280 7/100 $2630 Not a bad discount $600 off MSRP. Waiting on others. |

335i Warranty
Hey y'all,
Just recently got the extended warranty and maintenance after shopping around, called up Classic BMW San Antonio and Penske BMW, as well as my local dealer Little Rock BMW. I would advise dealing directly with the finance manager essentially dealing with all the paperwork and pricing. 7/100k Platinum Coverage on '07 335i Convertible with 41,297 Miles Warranty - $3205 2 year/100k Maintenance Warranty - $2000 Total: $5300 + tax Hope this helps for reference! Best advice is to shop around as many dealerships as possible until you get what you want! Feel free to PM me if you need help! |

Looks like you guys on Pacific coast get all the discounts. I just purchased 7/100 Gold extended warranty for my e92 335i for $3400 (including tax). I called majority of the local (Philadelphia area) BMW dealers and no one really wanted to discount much. One dealer told me MSRP ($3490) + tax (6%). Another dealer was willing to give $150 off but I still would have to pay tax. I got the best deal at the dealership where the car was initially purchased from (West German BMW).
My car had 49999 miles...the finance manger was "barely made it, huh" lol |

I purchased the Platinum extended warranty 7/100 for $3,600 including tax, and the extended maintenance plan for $1,895, so $5,495 out the door. My car is a 2007 335i coupe with about 47,000 miles on it.
I purchased from Henry Hall at Santa Monica BMW. I think it is a pretty decent deal, espcially compared to the outrageous quotes the local Vegas dealerships were providing! Hope this helps...

Btw, some additional information that might be useful... I got a late response from Ivan Romero at BMW of Bloomfield, who another poster had mention. He quoted me $3,500 for the 7/100 extended platinum warranty and $1,845 for 6/100 extended maintenance. Unfortunately, I had already puchased my plans, but this was definitely the best quote I had seen anywhere. I would recommend contacting him for anyone shopping around. His email is iromero@bmwofbloomfield.com.

No Tax No Tax No Tax. You Are Not Supposed To Pay Tax On Extended Warranty!!!!!
IF YOU PAID TAX, go back to the dealer and ask your money back. They just made an additional 6-9% off you!!!! |

I'm looking to buy 7/100K platinum for a 335i within the next 10 days in the bay area, California.
Is it safe to buy from out of state? Based on what people have paid, I'm looking to pay $3500 platinum, my car has no iDRIVE. If you know anyone , let me know Thanks in advance! |

2. You cannot purchase from an out of state dealer. They are not authorized to underwrite a warranty due to california laws/regulations. |

According to who? There are a number of out-of-state dealers willing and able to sell BMW warranties to CA residents, along with tons of brokers selling other plans. I think BMW of SFO was blowing some smoke up your butt!

Please provide their phone numbers. This wasn't a sales pitch from BMW San Francisco - this was from a dealer in Austin and another dealer in one of the Dakota's (or somewhere on the east coast) - both dealers were recommended by other members in the warranty section of the forum. Maybe this clarification helps - they said verbatim, if your car is registered in CA, we cannot sell to you. I'm not sure why two dealers who just (supposedly) sold platinum warranties to others on the forum would reject me, both with the same excuse...

Both Tischer and BMW of Bloomfield offered to sell me a BMW warranty, they are aware I am in California. This was within the past two months. BMW of Bloomfield was the best quote I've had so far. Now at 42,200 miles, so I still have some breathing space before I need to decide.

I am going to take a WAG here and say that because the BMW extended protection plans are contracts with BMW NA and/or their guarantors, it is in fact legal for out-of-state BMW dealers to sell you one. Certainly BMW NA is selling VSCP through their CA dealers, so they presumably are licensed to do so with the Insurance Commission. Or, perhaps, the BMW Extended protection plans might be MBI? Probably a call to the insurance commission could clear up the uncertainty. I repeat, the two out-of-state dealers who offered me contracts were well aware that my car is registered here. What might be going on is something akin to firearms sales to CA residents from out-of-state dealers. While perfectly legal as long as the transaction goes through a CA FFL, and the gun in question is legal in CA, many out-of-state dealers refuse ALL CA sales, either because they don't want to take the trouble to understand the law (which might be the case with some out-of-state BMW dealers re warranties), or because they are protesting CA gun laws in principle. |

has anyone ever heard of a dealership requiring an inspection of the car ($160 for an hour labor) prior to selling the extended warranty? Feels a little fishy that the dealership quoted me $3,900 for the platinum 7 yr 100K on my 335, and when I asked if they would beat the 3,500 another dealership was quoting, they said yes... then mentioned they'd have to do an inspection for $160 first.

Hell no! Don't pay for the inspection. Let them inspect it if they want, but it has to be free. What's the purpose of inspecting it if you're still under warranty when you're buying the extended warranty? They're going to have to fix whatever issue they find. What do they want to inspect?
The dealer only read my key when I bought my extended warranty. He didn't even cared about checking out the car.
