What price point will the kit be and what all does it include (stainless/mild steel, cat/no cat, muffler/no muffler etc)?

Not sure on the price yet but it will be more reasonable than anything out....that much I know. Will definitely be fully stainless, no cats, and most likely a performance muffler with the option to have muffler delete.

Sweet, that sounds solid. Thanks for the heads up!

You should offer up your version too.

If I can get them to offer a muffler delete rear section it will be very close to what I have minus the cats. So it is definitely an option....

I think I'd rather have the cats and no muffler.

I think most would choose this option.

Cat is likey more effective in removing stink the closer to engine it is. My thought is perhaps more direct than others. What if a high flow single cat where down stream of the downpipe/mid pipe junction. I'm talking further upstream than where SCR currently resides. My thought was to do a singular 3" all the way back. It would look dumb to only have one tip coming out of the diffuser. If downpipe is 3", wouldnt continuing with 3" all the way back be fine. If not, perhaps a 3.5" or 4" single. Maybe I would go get a 328 m sport rear panel and be in cognito. I know I'm way out of bounds of the main stream single to dual split method

Will a 335i performance muffler work on our cars? If yes. Do they sound good?

Gasser and diesel mufflers are different

I'd imagine the diesel and gasser muffler are pretty close in design, but the exhaust system is totally different where the SCR is. The d has a single pipe from the firewall until the diff, and every system for an i is dual pipe up. I guess you could get a 335i exhaust, chop the front, and weld in a Y a little after the downpipe. Of course, I'd leave the mufflers out.

I really like this one: http://gthausblog.com/?p=2719

Does it flow? I dunno, but it sure looks pretty. I know it's not for an e90.

Would it make any different if I put on a 335i performance muffler? Or will it work ?

If I was going to do something besides a full system, I'd just straight pipe from the mufflers to the tip. Between the dpf, oxidizer, and scr, there are plenty of "mufflers." I certainly wouldn't pay for a muffler until I cut the stockers off and cranked the car to see what it sounded like without.

DPF has been off for a week, and I can tell by the filthy tips on mufflers that my poor SCR must be getting full of soot. Cannot wait for iaknown's exhaust to be done.

TDI dissected one of his mufflers and found out was a straight through pipe with no perforations. Just insulation. Around the pipe and then the case holding it all together. This really only damps vibration of the pipe. Trying to say cutting mufflers won't really do much flow wise. Biggest flow game changer remains the DPF when it is removed.

Catalytic converter question: I went to site iaknown pointed us to.

I see 2 different 4" cats with 200 CPSI. One is heavily loaded (description is MBS 4" 200 cell (CPSI) High-Flow Heavy Loaded Converter) with more precious metal for reaction. The other just says "MBS 4" 200cell (CPSI) High-Flow Converter"

Flow specs:
loaded one: 2.5"- 451cfm @28", 3"- 508cfm @28"
regular one: 2.5" model- 451cfm @28", 3"model- 508cfm @28"

unless one of the flow test results has a typo, I don't see a drop off in flow for the heavy load one.

here are the links:
normal 200 high flow:http://mandrelbendingsolutions.com/m...low-converter/
heavy load 200: http://mandrelbendingsolutions.com/m...ded-converter/

I want to try to get rid of stink the best i can while not killing flow.

Finally the question: If i have this installed perhaps 6" aft of the forward mid pipe flange, will the gases be hot enough to react (oxidize is the term i believe)? I guess i need to go hunt for proper gas temp for reaction to understand tech requirement.

I recall TDI saying EGT temps on back end of downpipe weren't high enough to be oxidized. I wasn't sure if that was with meth running or not. I am not running meth. The idea here would be to run 3" pipe from downpipe through a CAT and possible split and then go through 2 resonators. I'm not decided on the split versus going 3" single all the way back though. SCR would of course be long gone.

This could also help with the over boost issue post DPF removal, assuming the best one is picked.
