It looks like there are a couple of mfg's that sell 1/2 DIN (Pyle and Myron & Davis) BUT it lists them as being able to play DVD and nothing about - or + R...
Wassup with the iDrive option? I hope I don't tell myself "I should have waited..." because with my e46, as soon as I bought my icelink, they came out with the icelink plus a couple of months later. So now like mostly everyone else, I have to go find a DVD player to connect this to AND figure out how to install this. Oh well... my damn kid better be happy! Turns out that the ONLY reason he likes the MDX better than my car is because of the DVD player... oh well, it could be a blessings in disguise! WE NEED LONG... WE NEED LONG... WE NEED LONG... |

Hahaha... next california summit? Or norcal-ers... I'm pretty confident in my abilities --but for everyone else, maybe we should do a tech-day/meet soon?

There are a few alternatives for installation though --from the pictures Long posted, it looks like he has the module wired to the accessories power in the ash-tray for power. This +12V hot is only on when in "ignition mode" so you won't be able to use the screen in "radio" mode. If any of you have systems already installed with a low voltage (speaker) trigger, maybe we can tap that source to get it working in "radio" mode. I'm going to try it that way... anyone that wants it that way needs to get a low voltage trigger, a good length of 14-18 gauge wire and a fuse-tap (add-a-circuit available only at autozone). The most difficult part of the whole thing seems to be getting the wire to the module location --I guess the only way Long could do it was taking apart the center console... that's the only part that I have no idea about yet. The rest seems pretty straight forward, just power up and plug-in.

Also, regarding backup camera... I imagine there's probably a switch on the module that we can activate by daisy chaining off of whatever signal tells the reverse lights to come on that will 1. provide power for the camera and 2. signal the module to switch over to backup-camera input. Long, can you confirm that there is such an input/switch on the module? http://cgi.ebay.com/License-Plate-Ba...QQcmdZViewItem Also, Long, were you able to put the plastic piece on the back of your glove box back on after you installed the half-din dvd player?
