called 800 # today:
estimated production date - march 7th
production # 357xxxx

the guy told me I won't get a confirmed production date until it is actually on the production line. He said the date he provided should be spot on, with maybe a margin for error of 1 day, more or less.

Just check what I recently called the useless owners circle website and was surprised to find that it was updated to "scheduled for production" and it also had VIN!!! Wohooo!

Ok so I just called the 800# again. The production actually started on 2/26/07 and scheduled to complete by 3/5 or 3/6

Question to anyone who called the 800#: I asked for the "status code" and the rep. said they are not allowed to give that information. He says those who gave out the status codes are no longer with the company...

Anyone get same reply recently?

They didn't give the satus codes, just the stage of production. The codes are available from the sticky.

The automated system will also give you the production stage - although may not be as accurate as a live operator. Mine is still presented as in the body shop, but the estimated completion date is still 3/2/07. It would have to be in or through paint today if that were to hold true.

But if it slips into next week, so what. Hopefully that will put me on a different ship than Steves, which is going to sink anyway.

I think it would be cool if BMW provided a "Baby Book" option (at a cost) for customer orders. At each major stage of production (i.e. Body shop; Paint; Assembly; Final Assembly) they could have a automated digital photo taken of your exact car and sent to you via email.

It would actually be very easy for them to do, since each car has an embedded data chip in it to tell the production line what it is and what options it gets, etc.

It would be like having ultrasounds of our new babies during the gestation process.

Yeah wouldn't that be cool? Hey Ledzep, what did you order? You have E90, 91 and now you're getting E92? Sorry if this has been asked before...

Actually you would know, if I were able to update my fucking signature!!! Sorry, just ranting. I've been trying to update the sig for a week.

I'm trading my E90 for a new E90.

If your car is being made in Munich, I hope you deleted the paint color option....it seems from the webcam that cars are being left with that bare steel finish.

First of all, when the hell do you ever see a car on the webcam? I've never seen any sign of life - ever.

Plus, I ordered mine that way. I want it to look like a DeLorian.

Now this is the first original idea you've had in awhile.

The only thing that I see a problem with is that if for some reason they screw up on the line, you have a photo record of the problem and this would dilute BMW's defense that they didn't know about it before they delivered the car to you. Also, it might divulge some secret industry practices that they don't want the public to be aware of. For example, having casual Fridays where they allow the associates to work in the nude.

Going for the "Back to the Future" look? I hear the FU666 option for the flux capacitor is available for 3/07 production. How many gigawatts does your Ipod need?

Obviously they would ensure that the area displayed in the photo was anticeptic of any other visual information. Again, pretty easy to accomplish with a fixed digital (like a traffic camera).

As for the casual Friday issue - the special team I requested to assemble my car is shown below, and my car is due for assembly tomorrow... I gotta say, I don't think I'd mind!

Sure, but you won't have Gretchen, Elsa, Heidi, Kerstin, and Ava putting a woman's touch on yours. I'll probably have a couple of nice throw pillows in the back seat.

I'm in the paint shop now. Given the usual delay of updates, probably finished with paint and waiting for assembly. Remember too that Germany is 8 hours ahead of us, so all the little Krauts are getting into their leder-jammies.

So, the father of this thread bids us a fond farewell and rides off into the sunset... or rather floats off. Congrats!

Thanks ZEP, but I am not going anyplace, this thread (and a couple others) give me something to do on these LOOOOOOOOONG days waiting for my car. It started as Week 10 info and turned into more of a Blog for people in production, whatever the case I enjoy reading about everyones progress in getting their car.
