So, has anyone figured out a fancy dual-ballast setup or anything like that for nighttime dimming?

DDM Tuning does not send to switzerland. Can someone give me a link from a good dealer for HID Bulbs? For example from ebay

Would also like to install the HID Kit on my BMW!

You could do that, all you would need is a relay with opposing outputs. But I would just run the 25watt for day and night instead of switching.

How do you think the daytime brightness would be, better than the H8 LED bulbs and GP Thunders and such? Also, how would underdriving the bulb affect color output? I know the GP Thunders are halogen, but they get all yellowish when undervolted - will xenon have the same problem?

Also, these might be a good option for fogs, less of an issue for other drivers.

I'm sure they would still be twice as bright as the GP thunders. When you over power a HID bulb with a 50 watt ballast, the color gets washed out. I would think that under driving them would make them more blue, but that is just speculation.

Thanks for making the DIY, there is never any point to spending loads of money on 'special' HID kits when all errors can be coded out.

I tried installing my kit this morning, I followed all of the instructions exactly. I'm familiar with coding fsw psw as well as nettodat. So, everything went well for the exception that my angel eyes only receive 12.7 volts when being used as DRL, when high beams are on, they receive 14.7 or something like that. However, as DRL, the lights begin to flicker.

Do you guys have any idea on what needs to be changed raise the voltage when they are used as DRL?

Yes I did. I've triple checked the values on my nettodat to make sure they were changed.

It's a 2007 coupe with a FRM2 retrofit. The HID lights work fine when the car is off of when the headlights are on (voltage is adequate), otherwise the lights flicker. During this time my voltmeter reads around 12.7 volts.

So I coded these and installed the bulbs last night. I noticed they worked before I even started coding with the ignition on, but I went ahead and coded anyway. This morning they still worked with the ignition on. About 20 seconds after I start the car they flicker then go out. Any idea why?

I also did step 9, and reread the NFRM module and the "38,0E" value was in the nettodat.trc so it did stick... as were the correct codes in the "fsw_psw.trc".

Thanks for your help.

I ordered some "HID flicker fix plugins" after deciding my problem could not be coded out. But now I think I can code it out. After playing around with the headlights here is where I am at:

Ign On, Eng Off: HID AE are on
Engine started Low Beams Off: HID's AE flicker and turn off after 20 seconds
Engine On Low Beams On: HID's AE stay on

So it seems the voltage is the key, I remember someone mentions a line of code that controls the voltage for low-beams on. So am going to try and set the wert_value to the same as that (RL_2 I think is lowbeam on & RL_1 is off for AE)

FIXXED IT!!!!11

Ok, here is what I did.

I changed PWM_RL_BL_1_FKT_BL to wert_01. I then reread the ECU and the nettodat had changed losing the 38,0E.
(Also after changing to wert_01, PWM_RL_BL_1_FKT_BL read as:
PWM_RL_BL_1_FKT_BL
wert_01
wert_02
But it was not an issue.)

At this point I had AE with headlights off, but not on (because we lost the 38,0E). So I then updated the nettodat.trc with the 38,0E and saved as nettodat.man. I then selected the objective to codebynettodat and typed in the nettodat.man in the popup. It then coded from the netoodat.man and I reread to confirm. The new nettodat.trc had the 38,0E. So I then test it out and SUCCESS, AE are on with HL on or off and engine on or off. Also no flickering after 20 seconds.

Nm... worked fine yesterday.

But today it seems like nothing has changed.

After starting the car the AE will flicker out unless the headlights are on. Weird because it worked yesterday afternoon and last night. The saga continues....
