Sorry about that whole experience. I’m going to paint my calipers soon. Just blue.

Blue will look good. If you'd like I'll list everything I used to control the shade of red (or blue for you)

Your calipers look good, I have the red on the 330 but I bought them that way from powerstop, yours is custom. I just dipped my 325 caliper brackets in acid bath, they're down to bare metal, trying to decide between paint or Rust Prevention Magic and leaving the bare metal look. How did the B8 ride with the stock Sport springs? Thinking about replacing my shocks some time soon and keeping my Sport springs.

Suppose if anyone's interested I'll throw up what I used. Quantity may very. So far it looks like I'll be using two of everything for all 4. You could probably get by with less if you're doing it on the car VHT Flameproof Primer Duplicolor Ford Grey Engine Enamel Duplicolor Metalcast Red (or any color metalcast of your choice) Dupicolor Engine Enamel Gloss Clear The trick is the metalcast is thin and transparent so it acts a tint layer. Each coat makes it a shade darker. I wanted my calipers dark so I picked ford grey. If you want it bright you could find a white or even stick with the metalcast basecoat for the candy look

Not too great of a day today, although not too bad either. I’m putting my car back together after I removed the intake manifold to flush the heater core. Today I decided to replace the water pump and thermostat, it went well until I undid an ac compressor mounting bolt. Debating with myself if I should just reuse that bolt with lower torque or wait until Monday. But yeah, replaced a bunch of other hoses today, I already replaced both radiator hoses a year ago but the rest of the hoses I pulled today honestly didn’t look bad at all, and neither did water pump and thermostat. Perhaps only heater core flush was needed.
I also tried to replace the driveshaft flex disc and tried to follow pelican parts diy which tells you just to lever off the driveshaft from the trans flange. I was surprised how much I had to pry the driveshaft off, kind of worried that their diy is bad. I tried to install the new flex disc but could not manage yet. Has anyone replaced their flex disc aka guibo this way? Many diys do exhaust removal and also undo center bearing mount bolts |

It’s absorbing imperfection well, even when driving slow, but isn’t really fast responding which probably is because of the springs. There is still that initial give when you drive aggressively. Is very similar to stock sport suspension but is just quieter. If that make sense? Koni yellow with BMW yellow performance springs is more planted.

So I finally enabled the diagnostic that shows coolant temp as I'm driving, wish I'd done it a long time ago. Highest it got was 84C at 80mph, normally 82C but it sometimes went back to 77. Warmed up quickly enough. So looks like thermostat time and I guess I'd be nuts not to fit a new and very expensive water pump at the same time :-(
An engine running cool is not a happy engine. Not surprised it's got sludged up tappets.

New wheels and tires for the 330i. I wanted it to look like what it is, a sport package 330i so I just replaced the style 162s with reconditioned OEM wheels. They were about the same price as aftermarkets, and they're real. I thought about trying a creamic coat like Geyon Rim, but in the end I went with the old faithful Magic Guard, it's much easier to apply than a ceramic and brake dust hoses right off it.
I went with the Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires, it's been a long time since I've had a car worthy or summer performance tires, can't wait to test their stickiness. The curb rashed style 162s with the AS tires are getting handed down to the 325i, they're fine for daily driver tires until I get around to redoing the style 161s. |

McLovin1 I need to get those 162s welded up. Jakes got me on the fritz, so many projects!
Edit: I had no other red in the interior to match the start button so I got some $10 trim molding from Amazon

I'm tryna keep up with you too lol. Acid dipped the caliper brackets, they look good with no rust I decided to go with the bare metal look and coated them with RPM. Before the acid bath and after rustproofing....
