Lol i kinda gave up after the first statement. It all went Charlie browns mom after that. technically they're a glorified volkswagon. but would I take any 911 over a BMW if I had the money, prob depending on the model

Porsche has been around since the 1930s and wasn't until like 08 or 09 that VW owed a MINORITY share in the company. Hell if I remember correctly Porsche actually owned a good portion of VW for a few years before it switched to the other way around.

VW has had no influence in what Porsche is, if anything I would say its the other way around and the new VW's might be more Porsche like. Audi has always borrowed its technology from Porsche (probably purchased but you get the idea) so again, who made who?

Plus on top of that, Audi's are damn nice cars now too. Hate their marketing but a few of their cars are worthy competitors and the TT-S is definitely one of them so Al has my blessing. 29xx curb weight and a very tuneable 2.0T motor with AWD makes for a fun ride on the streets OR on the track.

Wrongly, my opinion coming into this was that BMW's were reliable and that I could own this car long enough to give to my currently 10 y/o girls. I was a bit ignorant, however, keep in mind that I am pretty much a JDM guy most of my life and am used to not having ANY reliability issues (no toyotas in this dojo). So I am doing some serious due diligence prior to exceeding warrany and losing $2k in value with one tick of the odometer.

As far as the audi goes...originally it is what seth said/small/fast/light/easily tunable. I have said the close as you can get to a porsche thing too. Mostly to piss bmw fanboys off who say why would you want a porsche, its just a glorified audi? Well, that works both ways, wingnut (not you Judd - the stereotype). Unlike a porsche, it actually has a backseat, such that it is.

I'm going through all this and I will likely keep my car anyway, which is the funny part. I was walking back up the driveway last night after taking the garbage out and I see her in the garage light, still clean from the show and think to myself, god she looks so good....

But honestly, I don't think I'm ever buying another bmw unless its an M.
I'm glad you're happy with it. Is there not an extended coverage purchase package for CPOs? If you can get coverage somehow, then go for it!

Well there IS that M5 to which Seth posted a link...it's for 37,000..unless he's "claimed" it already. Not sure if it's certified. Only concern is that there must be a reason that it's the "only M5 within 500 miles as nice and as cheap."

I'll do some reconnaissance work for you...see what I find. I'm getting the sense that you wouldn't want to spend more than 50,000 including trade in residual value for the E90 and after some initial aftermarket parts installation. Let me know.

Well, James is correct in one respect...I don't want to be completely fiscally stupid. So, in order to justify this within the family context I need it to be pretty close to a wash from a monthly cash flow perspective, insurance gas mileage included. Wife, like so many of you is questioning the move. Her statement was as long as you can pay for it without reducing your monthly net contribution to the home, that's your business. So, I'd say closer to $40k is more realistic.

You know, with all this Japan tragedy...amidst my prayers for those affected, and the fear that 2012 might be more reality than fiction, I keep having one recurring thought...god, I hope my sake supply is not interrupted and that sake prices don't shoot up!!!!!! Cuz then I'm screwed.
