So what are the proper tools? I would be willing to tackle this job on my own, even if it takes a whole day, but am not averse to reducing the amount of unnecessary cursing...

I highly doubt it.

I'm surprised that they use the same parts. That's awesome that you can use these parts.

This is probably the best thread I have read so far.
I am wondering exactly which parts besides the front tension rod will fit the 135. The suspension especially in the rear needs some help which should be 75% eliminated with sway bars. I just miss my E46 handling which had TCK coilovers and every single possible bushing swapped. HP: If you guys need a 135 for suspension R&D let me know; I am local. |

This totally rocks. We now have the potential for a full hard-on suspension package for our 335s.

You guys just keep me spending money. Has any done a DIY yet or done this on their own, how hard is it? I would hope it would'nt be as bad as the struts and shocks ive already done. Do you just need a pickle fork and a hammer to get the old ones out?

Does it make sense to upgrade to 335i e92 Koni FSD shocks and later add the M3 parts or should I order some M3 spec rear shocks instead? If yes, what M3 rear shocks are available? What about the front? ARe 335i shocks ok for the front eventhough having M3 shocks at the rear? |

I'm thinking that a lot of the slop in the OEM bushings was designed to soften the ride from the RFTs.
So those of us that have swapped out for lighter wheels & non-RFTs really stand to benefit from these M3 parts.

The ride is definitely firmer but in a good way. Check this out: I've done so many different things to my car--tune, IC, wheels, etc. I did these M3 links and my wife drove my car yesterday. She called me up and said, "Whatever you've done to your car lately, I love it! I made a U-turn and your car feels so solid!" Out of all the things that I've done, this is the one that she noticed.

Yes, but it depends what your goals are. The full kit here -- rear bushings, front tension rods, & wishbone/control arms -- will significantly tighten up the handling and steering response. If you want to feel the road, this is your baby. If you want some isolation, you might want dampers with a bit of softness to them, like Koni fsds, but that is moving in the opposite direction. More performance oriented dampers & springs like Bilstein PSS10s will accentuate the gains made with the M3 parts.
My plan is to stick with all BMW parts, similar to Mr.5. BMW performance dampers and springs, M-sport rear sway, M3 bushings, tension rods, control arms, and strut brace. I also plan to fit the OEM E92 (I have an E90) rear chassis brace to provide a little more stability and strength to the rear platform. My thinking here is that this should provide a system fairly close to what BMW engineers came up with for the M3 and M-sport versions of the E90, I keep the warranty, and I might recoup more of the cost at resale. Edit: I am now thinking that if I get the BMW Perf exhaust with its smaller resonator, that a Hotchkis rear chassis brace might be the better way to go.
