Is there a way to activate both front and rear fog lights? Taking a look at the circuit board, it seems that you have to physically depress the buttons on the board.

If not you have two options: A) Instead of sticking out one finger, use two and hit both buttons at same time. B) If you still choose to use one finger, try to press at the crease in between and let half your finger touch both buttons. If you still arent happy with that process, you can probably superglue a piece of plastic in between so they both go on regardless which one you press.

Yeah, took me awhile to pry the button out and find a makeshift 'white piece'. Boy, was it satisfying to finally see it work though. Thanks OP. A great DIY mod.

Just discovered this thread this morning and did my rear fogs. Used a Bic pen and a nickle with little glue. Works perfect. Thanks for the 5 cent mod guys

Thanks OP. Just finished doing this mod.
The most time consuming part was getting the Air Vent trim out of the panel. After that, it was a breeze I used the small wood solution of gluing the wood across the 2 buttons. I then used a pen cap and used it to reach to the button. At first I did try to use a penny and the pen cap but that didn't work since the penny was a little too heavy for the pen cap. Tested the solution and it works brilliantly |

UPDATE: I have a 2006 325i and I just did this mod. In mine the blank button was included with the white piece, just had to remove tabs.

I used LEGOS! Stole them from my little brother
1x flat piece with 3 dimples, 3x SINGLE dimple pieces, looks like little squares *** I USED THE GREY PIECE WHICH IS EQUIVALENT TO 2 OF THOSE YELLOW SQURE THINGYS The LEGO 3 dimple piece is the EXACT width as the BMW soft buttons. I begin to think BMW used legos to mock up their cars lol WORKS GREAT! My pieces even had a hole in the middle incase i ever decide to drill a small hole in the button for the light to shine through. Great thing about BMW is that they include the rear fog bulbs! whoo hoo, saves us E90/E92 owners $5 bucks |

If you wanted light to shine through, make sure to solder on an LED to the existing circuit board; unless your circuit board has an LED already soldered on.

I just did it and I only needed one of the buttons to be pushed in order for the rear fogs to turn on so I just cut the yellow base part of the pencil and stuck it to a square lego that presses down on only one of the dots and it works beautifully!
To the OP, THANKS FOR SAVING ME $55!

the white piece is just a piece of plastic, you can use a pen cap which is also a piece of plastic I mean..we're not duplicating a piece of metal that holds our car...its just a plastic that'll trigger the switch
