Now with the coilovers I was wondering if I should level the car out a bit, our cars all sit lower on the right side normally, I believe BMW did this so the cars would be level with a driver in the left hand side

Since we're right hand drive, I'm wondering if I should drop the left about 1cm, or do f that would just stuff up the balance of the car since it's built to have even spring lengths
Nice Hops.... I'm running the KW3s too. Takes about a week for the car to settle into its final position after installation, so I would wait and see where the levels end up in a few days.

Be great to know what you think of them once you get the height, rebound etc all dialed in

They feel pretty stiff driving home from the wheel alignment, but it's wet in Canberra today so was driving slowly which kind of means you feel the small bumps, didn't feel harsh though which is good

As my power window control panel on the driver's side door was starting to look a bit ragged due to the plastic covering starting to peel off, I thought that I would remove it and give it a new paint job. The panel is easy to remove from the arm rest using the plastic moulding removal tools, disconnect the wiring connector and remove the outside cover off the switches. Then I removed the peeling material with course sand paper by lightly rubbing it and painted the cover.

I was happy with the result, however, now the hand grip in the arm rest requires same attention but isn't that easy.

The BMW design of the arm rest makes this a difficult process. If the hand grip could be removed the same as the control panel, it would be easy to repair and paint or replace but as it is secured to the arm rest which is secured to the door trim, it requires removing the door trim and then removing the arm rest from the door trim. However, the arm rest is not secured to the door trim by screws so this becomes another problem. Has anyone removed the arm rest from the door trim and how did you secure it back on. After completing this post, I found on Youtube a video that answered all of my questions.

That looks good. I've had this on my to do list for a while, but haven't been able to find any LVP paint in Australia. The americans use Colorbond, but it doesn't seem to be available here. What paint did you use?

I bought these paints from Supercheap. The Matt black looks the same as the original.

Today, I did a repair on the bolts holding down the cabin air microfilter housing. Over 11years of removing and installing this housing numerous times, the threads for the original self taping screws had stripped out and so the screws were replaced with larger self taping screws which after time again stripped out the thread. I have now installed thread inserts into the plastic and used stainless 5M x 10mm bolts and washers to secure the housing. Worked out well.

I did this one as per the video.

Worked out very well indeed.

My only issue is I now have a slightly undesirable gap between the hand pull and the arm rest. Clearly as a result of now clamping these two sections when using the JB Weld. Could easily redo that in the car if I was really bothered.

I've spent this weekend fixing all the stone chips on the bonnet, A pillar and roof of my car. Slowly getting there with all the small things!

I got a kit from here https://drcolorchip.com.au/

The paint is very forgiving to work with, the chips are about 80-90% less noticeable which is great for panels that are showing signs of wear but not enough to warrant a respray. Well worth the money, but it is time consuming. My car has 140k km, has been driven to various half mile events and around Australia by previous owners so it's been a bit rough around the edges since I got it.

I counted close to 30 or so chips all up that deserved fixing, most of which were on the bonnet. I think I spent close to 4 hours sorting them out, some of the deeper chips had gone through the paint completely and needed up to 4 applications to be completely filled.

I have not bothered trying to fix up my front bumper as it has far too many chips and is really deserving of a respray (it also needs some attention to bring the panel gap back to an acceptable level haha). Once the respray is done I can get a proper paint correction sorted out
