since these will mount upon an already fortified chassis, the only comprimise will be the bars themselves. Remember, anything retractable, can and will retract.

not too bad..spent the eveing at union square and came home to relax and eat some dinner. Pretty uneventful.

hmm good point. i wonder if someone has done a remote wheelie bar system. Where a push of a button, it extends and locks into place with some sort of reinforcement plate.

In that case, the answer to your first question is both yes and no. Any extreme fortification of the bar will effect the chassis during impact (think car accident) and one that has dampening abilities will lose out on purpose/functionality.
