New Poster Here. My friend is up in Ithaca with her 09 328XI and is having some motor troubles. Sounds like Eccentric shaft sensor. Does anyone know of a good BMW mechanic around Ithaca. I typically fix the car but It’s a little far for me to drive at this point and shell be there for a few more years,
Thanks |

Hey everyone, 328i e90 from Rochester here. Just posting up some work I recently did for maintenance during Covid-19 quarantine.
I upgraded front and rear control arms to M3, b4 bilstein shocks with Eibach lowering springs, rebuilt brake calipers and powder coated gloss black with zimmerman rotors and akebono ceramic pads, powder coated to sparkle silver the stock 17" rims, engine mounts. Also finally got to replacing oil leaks with the following gaskets: oil pan, oil level sensor, valve cover, spark plug wells, eccentric shaft sensor, oil filter housing. Not all these were leaking. My PCV system still seems to be functioning properly so I didn't replace my valve cover for ridiculous amount of money. I also had an exhaust leak at the flange connection after the cat that I had to remove the welded bolts with acetylene oxygen torch and replaced bolts. I have the stock exhaust and pretty much everything else on the car for that matter is stock. It's my daily driver so this was for maintenance to keep her going for some time hopefully. I inspected the DISA valve as I know this can fail but it looked solid. Other near future maintenance items I have my eye on include output shaft seal and gear shaft selector seal replacement, one or both of them are leaking. I will also keep an eye on the rear main seal as it was hard to tell if that was leaking due to oil being everywhere from the oil pan gasket and other leaks. One thing for sure is these e90s like to leak oil! |
