I'm getting 34.8 average out of my 335D, and thats kinda driving normally (i.e. mostly sensibly with the occasional squirt past someone). Have had 42 on a trip oop norf, and had 26 whilst driving like I stole it.
Is that about right? |

Mine is doing exactly the same, in mixed driving. I've seen 40+ on the m/way run.

Done a motorway run in the m3 - 100 or so miles. Managed 24.2mpg
Better than the 12.9 I was getting around town!

my new 320d ED is getting a delightful 53.3mpg at the moment!
Pleased to see that figure as I am driving it 'heartily' at the moment and my old 123d coupe used to get 42.2mpg so what I have given up in performance I have gained in mpg! |

3 months now with my 330d auto LCI ....
Low 35mpg around town ... high 54mpg when using the motorway. I've done 2000 miles .... the car 8500 ... so hopefully will get better as it loosens up a bit |

Not a con, exactly; just an industry-wide standard test at known reference points.

which means cheaper road tax for the record my 325 averages 29.9 mpg that a good mixture of motorway runs, thrashing it about country lanes and slow town and city driving |

These are only rough figures mind
In the 50 days I've owned the M3 so far I've done 1076.9 miles and put in 309.93 litres of fuel at a total cost of £445.42 That works out to 15.77mpg and a cost of 41p per mile Still loving it though, especially with the nice weather we've been having!

E93 335i DCT 'box LCI
Readings from OBC 28 mpg average everyday short & medium journeys no jams 34 mpg motorways free flowing 20 mpg being silly on a longish run (but not that silly as i am getting old) So it can vary from 15 to 34 mpg depending on time, right foot road type and traffic I am happy with this given the performance |

Efficient Dynamics makes a difference - getting about 43mpg average in a broad mix of driving from my 2008 318i E91. Might be a different engine to yours. Official figure is 47mpg - had this once or twice driving very carefully and coasting where safe.

2010 318d tourer, 43.4mpg over 11k.
Best average over a tank was 57mpg, worst was 39. Did manage 62.7mpg over a 200 mile run, but I died of boredom that day. |

best ever was a trip to cambridge @53.3 mpg ( really tying for economy on that run) worst is the school run in a morning when its minus 10 like last year which gives about 28 (using journey computer) always mid to late 30's on average overall. got 29.5 mpg towing 1500kg caravan to the lakes from Derby & 30mpg on the way back. checked the computer with a brim to brim & it was reading under by 1mpg but if you factor in the miles covered on the trip meter is probably 2 or 3% optomistic than it kinda balances out. once its rolling in 6th it's quite easy to keep the swingometer near the 50mpg on the motorway. more so at 70 than 55. I do drive fairly lightly overall though & always anticipate islands etc & try to coast (foot off) up to junctions etc. rather than brake hard. I would proably have an M3 but couldnt live with 20mpg. I just couldnt. That would be like paying £2.70 a litre to me |
