Update: I was not really feeling the MD. I thought it was too loud and that air nozzle/whistle sound was getting annoying. I did the ECU reset last night. I unplugged my battery for about five hours. This morning it felt like a different car. The torque loss was a lot less, the idrive starts up faster and the exhaust is not as loud as before. That funny air nozzle/ whistle sound is not as loud as before also. I think it is the cheap tips I bought. I had to drive from Alhambra to Ontario, CA. The drive was nice hearing my MD on the freeway. There is drone but it's very minimal. It sounds more aggressive with the windows up or down. I think I will keep the MD.

Got mine done on Saturday for a grand total of $97 including the cheap exhaust tip from AutoZone.
Here's the link E90 muffler delete.

Yup! However, it's all I could find and I wasn't looking to pay $120 for Magnaflow tips (per their website). I also didn't really look around too much for them online, if someone has suggestions I'm open to them, but for the time being they're ok.

Yeah, actually I get a whistle kinda sound up to a little over 40mph. I'm not sure if it's rpm dependent or speed dependent. I'm blaming it on faulty welds, there seem to be spotty ones on the bottom of the tip, leaving enough room for a whistling sound. At least I think

Hey guys,
A couple of serious questions about muffler delete: 1) Will the mpg decrease? In other words will the car consume more petrol? Also, will the car lose power? 2) Is this part called the muffler that needs to be cut off and the gap that will remain should be fulfilled with an ordinary pipe just like the one in the picture below? http://www.e90post.com/forums/album....ictureid=16547 3) Is this part in the picture below called the resonator, which, as I understood, shouldn't be deleted if I do not need excessive sound? http://www.e90post.com/forums/album....ictureid=16546 4) Will the stock exhaust system with a deleted muffler give my 325i e90 a sexier sound which will be worth the cash (20$ here, in Lithuania), if I do not want to spend 1000$ on the whole exhaust system? 5) Do muffler tips by themselves have any kind of influence on the stock exhaust system's sound? I thank you all very much for any info or tips that you can provide me with, because tomorrow I am planning to delete my muffler and need as much possible information. Cheers. |

I can't find any videos of an e92 335i with a muffler delete. Does anybody have a video clip of it. I only see e90 335i and e92 328i. Please post it up. Thanks

i really don't think deleting the resonator with a stock muffler will do much. The stock muffler just has so much sound proof material to keep the car really quiet that deleting something as small as a resonator won't do much.

I spent $65 with a cheapo tip the first time around because I had a friend at Midas do it. I replaced the tip later on with a much nicer full stainless one. Total cost to date on exhaust has been $160. $100 is not unreasonable if you are getting piping and the cyba tip welded on.
