Got my letter today for the PCV blow-by heater recall (#2017-470) confirming that there is no replacement part yet. BMW will send another letter when there is a fix. I attached a scan of the letter to this post. The recalled models listed in the letter are:

2007-2011 3 series, 5 series, Z4, X3
2008-2011 1 series
2007-2010 X5 with N52K or N52T engines

As already mentioned, the faulty part is the "Angle Connector With Heating Element" mounted to the intake manifold. Based on the recalled model years and part number runs, I think the faulty connector is 11617561408 (Oct 2005 to Feb 2016). The latest revision (11618638014) and the earliest version (11617530271) are outside the recalled years.

Here are some dramatic failures:

Wait, even when the car is off the circuit is live?
According to the video only when key on but the
Letter states to park outside? Wtf, odd that the circuit would work when car is off.

Are you guys parking outside?

Yes, there is always a live 12v at Pin#2 on the harness going to blower motor.

Park outside or take the blower motor fuse out.

Just inspected the wiring to the blower motor. I didnt see anything alarming, so I should be good until I get another letter saying parts are ready.

I called up the dealer where my car was purchased new about 40 minutes north of me and they said that they can give me alternate transportation. I may head up this weekend and see what's up. Call me a homer but if it's not a BMW or Caddy, I'll pass.

Drove over to enterprise and swapped that awful Frontier for a Charger. I've always been a fan of Dodge looks, would never buy one. I'm enjoying this rental car carousel.

So, called the dealer for an update. They went on to tell me that parts aren't in, blah, blah, blah..

After I told them I was leaving the country Monday and will be gone for a week, suddenly they have parts and my car will be fixed tomorrow. I guess they didn't want to take the chance of paying a shit ton of unnecessary car rental. When I asked what the fix was going to be he froze. I'll be inspecting and letting you guys know.

I think they're blowing smoke.

Well, this is good news! I'll still be inspecting my harness and FSU.

True, and the dealership claims that the service will be completed in a couple of weeks, so you're right, I take my complaint back!!

I still wish I'd gotten a more fun car as a loaner...

I say scope out the local Enterprise. I just got my car back and everything was taken care of as promised. It's a completely different harness from before. I'm still leaning towards moisture issues coming from leaky cowls. The new harness is completely enclosed.

Anyone know how long both the PCV and wiring harness repairs took the dealership? Wonder how complex it is and if anyone had any issues. Thanks.

Thanks for the update. Blower regulator 64119265892 has been around since 03/01/2012 so that's not a revised part. Replacement cable 61118714661 is new though and isn't indexed anywhere. I wonder if they upgraded the harness?
