As for how I like it, questions like this are difficult to answer. I guess the best way is to compare it to an E92 M3 (which is similar in some ways to the 335i, though not a perfect parallel). The M3 pulls harder than the C2S, but the M3's steering is numb compared to the C2S. It's a huge difference to be honest. The E92 feels a lot heavier (which it is). The manual tranny has longer throws in the M3 than in the C2S, and the brakes feel less responsive to me than in the Porsche. Also I'm a little disappointed by the music the V8 makes in the M3, it's pretty muted compared to the small block V8 you'd find in a Vette. To me, the BMW feels like a GT car, while the C2S is a true sports car, if that makes sense.

Hanging around the 997 boards on 6Speed, it seems a lot of people there are former/current BMW owners. Mostly E46 and E92 owners who made the switch.
The new Cayman S is a sleeper on the track, and even though I'm not a fan of manutronics, the new PDK transmission is absolutely a performer. There is a video floating around 6Speed of a C2S with PDK outrunning a 996 Turbo in the 1/4 and 1 mile.

[u2b]R5BVmaU-Vvo&feature=channel[/u2b] The Mk2 Carrera 2S is a lot quicker than before and PDK makes a hell of a difference, my guess is even more here than it does in the M3. I was invited to Porsche's driving course at Silverstone to test the new Cayman and Cayman S with PDK and I was much more impressed with PDK than I was with my M-DCT in the M3. If Porsche would just adopt the same paddle shifters that everyone else use then it would be the ultimate of all dual clutch gearboxes. |

Well, this thread was kind of hijacked, but let's bring it back on track guys.
I want a new car for next summer, and I was set on the 335i... But I have a test drive scheduled for Monday in the S4... I'll post my review ! |

Has the dealer given you any indication that there will be a decent number of S4s brought to Canada? The waiting list for the S5 is rediculous, I'm hoping Audi will bring the S4 in much larger numbers.

I just got back from seeing the S4 up close. They have a black/black and a silver/black. The silver car listed at $53,600, I believe. Good looking car but I have no idea how it drives.
The interior sure looks nice. ^ This store has 3 S5's. |

I just saw the new s4, nothing really speacial about it, the performance numbers look good but it was already marked up to 55,000 dont see these going any less than 50000 for a while.

He's talking of a 14 to 16 weeks lead time order to delivery. He didn't talk about any waiting list or limited numbers.

I love absolutely everything about the S4 apart from it's dimensions. It's a bit too big, whereas the 335i looks tighter and more composed. That said, I'd probably go for the S4 anyway.

It's obviously not Montreal but here in Vancouver the waiting list at this point is 4 to 5 months if you ordered one right now.

What review said the 1/4 mile in 13.4s Both the ones I supplied clearly shows the S4 whipping the 335i's butt in acceleration and continued to increase this as the speeds got greater. |

But on the ability to cover ground it has the 335 comfortably lick, and I would lay money on that in the hands of anyone less than professional it would be mighty close to the M3 too. After driving both the S4 and the 335i it's the Audi with the better engine, both musically and responsively, it's got more room, more practical in any condition and arguably the one with the better image and class. It's got DCT and it's works and it's got a LSD. Honestly, the only reason for picking the 335i is the preference for the BMW brand and the love of a rear wheel drive chassis, but if neither these are a concern then the S4 IS the better car. |
