It's possible that critters are dying in the woods. My property and surrounding area is rural land, but I am 16 miles from downtown Greensboro.

They flock on the fence and house and stalk the 'dead' soccer balls the dogs have destroyed

They'll actually fight over the dog toys and the chewed soccer balls
