Exclamation 335i..new engine, NO SPARK. Help!!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Just got the new rebuilt engine back in my 07' 335i. I'm trying to fire it up, and it just cranks and cranks. I have LPFP pressure (82psi), Rail pressure (2200psi), all the ground are hooked up, I've checked every fuse I can find, no codes when I scan it....but for some reason, I have no spark from the plugs when I crank the engine over.

I've checked continuity from the frame, to the block, to the injectors, to the coils....everything is grounded properly.

Any ideas? I'm stumped?? Any help would be great!!!!

maybe a long shot, but double-check the timing. Here's a video where an n55 was rebuilt, cranked but didn't start with all the same symptoms:

Turned out to be timing
P.S. good stuff is at ~ 15 mins

I was going to say maybe timing as well although I'd expect codes if it's that point. Worth a check but yeah to check timing you would have to remove valve cover.

the guy in the video wasn't getting any timing codes, either. The engine probably needs to start and to run for a bit to get the codes to set.

Exclamation

Well, I figured it out.......but it was mostly just luck. After checking grounds, wires, connections...everything I could think of, I had just about given up. Then I figured what the hell, might as well try to reflash the tune. Well...that did it. As soon as the tune got flashed again, I hit the start button...and the engine fired up and came to life!

Not sure what the deal was...maybe after sitting for almost a year with no power, something in the DME got corrupted? Glad it was something simple......
