No Chimes, No Sound, No Luck
Got into my 08 335 after work and heard dripping water inside the car after a torrential rainstorm. Frantically, I felt around around and noticed with dread that all the carpets were soaked (no puddle though). Everything at this point still worked, however.
I drove home with the music blasting. I parked the car and immediately began stripping the interior and setting up box fans fans and space heaters. I stripped the whole interior, seats, carpets, everything, and successfully dried everything out. Upon reassembly a few days later, I put the key in the ignition and voila, no chimes, no sound, nothing. Head-unit turns on and everything seems to work, with the exception of the volume bars, which are gone. Now that you have the backstory I was curious: Is there a fiber-optic cable that I might have missed? Where is it and where does it go, because I was pretty meticulous with putting everything back exactly as removed. The only thing that didn't have a socket were two wires in the center console--one was a purple "co-ax" looking one, and the other was large connector I believe is for a dealer-optional phone cradle. I have done a fair bit of searching and the responses are quite varied on these forums and range from hokus-pokus to software updates to MOST issues, to plain old dead amps, but here is what I've tried: 1) Disconnected and reconnected the battery 2) Disconnected and reconnected the harness to the Logic 7 Amp (yes, I am sure I have logic 7) 3) Checked all the fuses: 14,15,18,19,2x,47,63, and 7x--they are all good. 4) Checked for dampness/water in the trunk and around the amp--I found none. I think it awfully coincidental that the AMP would go only after the interior strip, but, if you have any additional ideas I'd appreciate the help! Thanks in advance, Cm |

Do you have Logic 7 option 677?
If so There are led's inside the L7 amp that tell you some things about the status of the amp.(see the second link) Logic 7 https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1056432 http://www.bmwlogicseven.com/?p=3837 http://www.bmwgm5.com/ https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...5#post24455335 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...2&d=1260829447 http://www.google.fr/url?sa=t&rct=j&...slMu2A&cad=rjt https://www.bmwgm5.com/Logic7_E90_91_92_93.htm http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=982666 http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...1&d=1209780605 Most http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=727663 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=347222 https://www.google.com/search?q=BMW+...VCkMqy2aCK09M: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...php?p=19256760 https://www.teacremotes.com/bmwgm5/ |

Thank you!!! I will go through those links and diagnostics and report back. Worst to worst--there are lots of these amps on Ebay and the like (car-part, etc) for cheap(caveat emptor?). I've read that they need to be coded to the car and that the dealer won't do it for prayer or money. Is it possible to do it with INPA? I haven't gotten ISTA/P/D installed yet...
If I can only do it with ISTA P/D, does anyone have a working link for a download? I've dug up some Megashare links on here and they are broken I really appreciate the help! -Cm |

bimmergeeks.net is the one most people are using now.(for download)
Look at coding subforum for more. They are mostly all Mega downloads its worth buying a 1 month subscription to hasten the process. The amps used to be plug and play most of the time only on the newer cars did the older amps have to be updated for the newer cars. Cars made after 3/07 require the Icom cable to program Most Bus modules. |

I hope that someone in the future reads this and learns from my profound oafishness/stupidity. There is a MOST buss thingy in the LHD Driver's kick panel, basically right next to the hood release/OBD port. The connector got snared up in the wiring upon reassembly and wasn't plugged in. I plugged it in and whalla, glorious L7 sound!
Thank you all, IMMENSELY for your help!!! -Cm |
