I think I've worked out why the E92 styling doesn't.
The boot area is too low and that is probably due to backing off on the Bangle boot. This makes it look like a reverse chine yacht. Ironically it needs something to make the car more of a wedge shape otherwise it looks like a MX6

are you on crack? that doesnt look at all like an e92. I love the e92, the e46 just looks outdated to me now.

I actually like the E46 coupes headlights better. I think they just have a more defined shape than the E92.
The rest of the deisign, I do like the E92 better... As always, LED tails would be cool too... |

Confirmed it is the swage line. You can see it just by comparing the E46 to the E92. The deck height of the trunk is too low on the E92 (compare E46). The E90 doesn't have this problem because it has the bangle boot which raises the deck height

the E46 is a classic to be sure.
Having said that though, there is no escaping that we're in a new era from a BMW design standpoint, and while I think they got close with the E90, I think they managed to (finally) get it just so with the E92. I like the car quite a bit, esp the head on view. First bimmer imo to truly have the classic 'all business' bimmer front end.
