Help with N55 log - target boost

Hi,

I want to improve my performance but before I start, I have a 28A0 code that I am trying to troubleshoot. The car is a bit rough at idle sometimes but seems to drive well enough.

I have logged it using MHD to try to find out what’s happening.

The main thing that’s odd is on WOT, my target boost stays at around 8 PSI and actual boost hits 16 and then declines.

It would be great if someone take a look and see if they can suggest what’s happening. What does target boost max out and actual follow a more usual pattern?

Load actual is way below load requested and timing corrections on cylinder 4, apart from that looks ok to me.

First Logs - Healthy?

Did my first logs. Stock 1M.

Looking for help interpreting results. Car pulls really well in stage 0 and stage 1. My butt doesn't detect any issues. But the logs look like there is consistent cyl timing corrections. Pulls are in 3rd gear from 2000 rpm.

Am I safe?

Log1 MHD Stage 0

Log2 MHD Stage 1 91 Oct

Thanks in advance!

I would pull from at least 2500rpm as MHD suggested not 2000rpm.

Corrections are probably due to the 91oct fuel. You could try 93oct fuel or add E85 to confirm.

Have you done your plugs/coils?

I only have a Monitor licence at the moment but I could get the full licence and do the flash.

I just thought it would be good to get it running properly at stock first before changing software.

If I recall correctly, you don't need a map pack to flash stage 0.

Stage 1 and up you do.

Thank you.

Ok, will log again from 2500 vs 2000.

I'm in CA, so 91 is the best I can normally get.

I have not done plugs/coils yet, but plan to next week at my next service.

Is there anything I should concerned about? Is it safe to run Stage 1 or Stage 0 in this state?

Thanks again!

I'm back to sorting out my N54 swapped wagon. FBO , relocated inlets, I was driving it without the JB4 because I was having some issues the logging with protools but it turns out that my Cas is still reporting the 328 vin so it doesn't default to 335 logging items.

I put the JB4 back on so it can at least give some feedback through there. I did pulls on map 2 and map 5 and I'm scratching my head why it never requests more than 10 psi? Should be like 15? Seems lean too. Anyone here good with the JB4? I have an account for N54tech but no idea what my login is there.

No worries,

Yes it's safe to run Stage 1, apart from the timing corrections looks fine.

Good idea to do the plugs and coils though. Worn out plugs/coils can also cause corrections.

Ok found 100oct. Added 5 gals of 100 to about 4 of 91 oct.

Moar power. But same cylinder timing corrections.

Sounds like I defn need plugs and coils.

Thanks.

Not to stray too off topic but found my "mysterious" cyl 6 misfire. All of my plugs were finger tight.! I installed new NGK Iridium plugs and torqued to 23nm. They have a large crush washer so the only thing I can think is that I hit the torque spec as I tightened and crushed the washers but they were actually not completely torqued. I guess a good rule of thumb is to drive a few days and then re-torque plugs!

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone can take a look at my friends log. It's a 2009 135i FBO stage 2+ on an e50 tune, upgraded inlets and outlets as well as an upgraded LPFP. Here is the log

lol, post a log once you've done the plugs and coils. You will probably still get some corrections but they should be significantly less, hopefully.

Assuming your on a custom tune,

I'm guessing DME is closing throttle as a result of which boost is dropping due to load actual taking a nose dive from 5k, no idea why it's dropping so much. You'll have to send the log off to your tuner and ask your tuner.

Hey guys new to data logging. Boost, not hitting boost target. Getting a 2f6c 30ff code with half ce at around 5/6k rpm. This log shows that.

I saw cyl 1,3,5 timing cor? Dip just prior to when I assumed the ce light came on. Any help appreciated.

Thanks. Waiting on Ken, seems like business is booming for him... Hoping it's just his base map, but we'll see. I cant afford any more surprises with this car!

Chasing a gremlin now.. Lol.
Not sure what's happened. Changed lpfp and coils. Thought ngk plugs looked good. Per my tuner I used protool and reset engine adaptations. Flashed and drove car for 30 minutes before log. Had cyl 6 misfire again at 6200 or so and super knock cyl 1 and 5.
I have a known good set of NGK 2 step colder plugs I plan to install to see if that cures the misfire...

Update... Swapped in the ngk 2 step plugs and car runs fine now. Always felt like it ran better on these plugs. Adaptations and fuel trims are beginning to get better better too.

I don't know why its not compatible. maybe the ame only does one but not both thermistors. ptc versus ntc. I just took it at face value and bought a new one for 20 bucks.

yes, its nice to have a tuning area.
