Another reason to add to the list of why to avoid farcebook.

Call me old fashioned, but real friends phone, and meet in the pub etc.

Facebook is just a way for marketeers to sell your soul and big corps to flog you shit you don't want.

One of the first places prospective employers / clients look now is straight on facebook, to see all those pictures your 'friends' posted of you vomiting on a night out and your rude / crude / obscene / inappropriate banter with or between your 'friends'. Great advert, application in the bin, look like a twat, credibility ruined.

Linked-in for work only. but keep it professional and clean.

I completely agree with you Mike, hence the reason for bailing after about two weeks years ago, but a few networking do's I go to circulate information via FB, so thought I'd dip my toe in a little, hence wanting to clear out the shite.

I quite like Linked-in, just dipping my toe into Twitter (but really can't be arsed with that), but will keep my FB page clear of vomit shots . In fairness, if you play it right, FB can back-up that you're a decent chap with a life as opposed to a boring of fart with no personal skills (something in my industry I'm happy to separate myself from ).

Even though I'm not on facebook, people still tag my name against group photos etc that OTHER people post up and you have no control over (like a recent stag do in the alps, others vomiting, not me), so if I was on facebook it would still link to my profile suspect?

I have had a few occasions where clients have set up groups on FB, but I've just politely suggested they set it up on Linked-in, blaming the IT department for blocking FB
