2011 E9x/E82 Diagnostic & Programming - ISTA or INPA/DIS?
Hello all,
My apologies for such a novice question..... but.. I've been looking online for a definite answer to this question... For 2011 E9x / E82 chassis' can I use INPA/DIS/SSSv41 for program/reset steering angle sensors, adaptation and what not? or do I definitely need ISTA D/P for the purpose? I see that INPA/DIS only supports upto MY2008 (Correct me if I am wrong?) but somehow, I see some people are successfully performing diagnostics, reset adaptations, program in new modules after replacement, etc... using INPA/DIS/SSS And I see posts where people say you cannot do any of that for newer model year cars, unless you have ISTA setup. Please be merciful with flaming! Thank you very much in advance!! |

You can "technically" hack up SSS to support newer vehicles, but that's a massive gamble. If you want the proper tools for diagnostics, you can use a K+DCAN cable and ISTA/D rather easily. Programming is another game, you can program basic modules like the DME, etc. But anything on the MOST (fibre optic bus) like the navigation system, etc. you really want an ICOM A+B along with ISTA/P and a good stable power supply, otherwise you risk seriously screwing up your car by bricking ECUs. |

Thank you for the clear-cut answer!
I will definitely pick up a K+Can cable and will dig further into ISTA |
