Just read entire thread. Great build and them ohlins ...

I've been tempted of going down the suspension route from Birds, I've had lengthy discussions with Kevin regarding it.

But after seeing them Ohlins out the box and then fitted, makes me think... Lol.

Great car bud

Thanks Paul. Appreciated. Yes I've gone from Birds to Ohlins and am very happy with the move. They are a stunning bit of kit and allow the ride height and damping to be adjusted perfectly.

Car just feels much better doesn't it Raj.

Once you start hitting hard corners, you'll realise why linear springs are good

Does feel good for sure. I've liked the way previous setups have worked and been setup when pushing on and this is certainly on par for sure.

Soooooooo.

Onto the next big mod for me. This has been mentioned previously and it has taken a few months to come to fruition due to car issues and other mods taking precident.

Finally dropped the car off to have the old roof removed and the replacement M3 CF one fitted. Now I know previously there has been debate over weight saving and the like so please let's not get into it again.

So firstly I had to remove the old grey headlining. It was a bit of a pain trying to squeeze it out the door without scratching anything but their it is finally out:

Say goodbye to the old metal roof:

So Gary arranged for the window fitter to firstly remove the front/rear screens:

Then it was onto the simple task of removing the old roof:

And there it is a little worse for wear lol:

As he's been busy actually doing the job he didn't get any side by side shots of the 2 roofs etc and just pinged me this one:

Wow bonded and clamped on now waiting for the 24 hours for the bonding agent to go off.

Hopefully another update tomorrow otherwise will just be the finished article when I collect her on Friday.

Hope you like.

Thanks,

Raj.

Enough that I can now pick up a McDonalds and the weight won't adversely effect the handling

This is gonna look the nuts, one of the best unique features about an m3 is the carbon roof.

I do love the thought of this mod from a purely aesthetic perspective. Think it will look good against the silver.

I've still got a spare one lol. Forget weight saving. Just do it for the looks to go with that lovely domed bonnet.

Hi Raj, just remembered we met when I removed the Akra exhaust off the crashed 335i

Good to see the progress that you've made. Any chance of PM'ing me the cost of the roof swap, I've still got mine sitting in the garage!

For some yes, but no different to wrapping your interior trim, adding a rear CF diffuser or any cosmetic mod

But seriously thanks. It is very different and hence the reason for doing it ultimately.
