Did you have them check your vin number or did you just tell them your year? When I ring I won't accept a "no" unless they check my vin, and even then I may consider taking in a print of the QE

If it was much older it would be an m47, the changeover from m47 to n47 was in 2007, from the sound of it, your local dealer have no idea what they're talking about!

It is only the n47d20a that is being recalled. My 118d from november 2008 with n47d20c engine is not recalled.

The problem for me is there are no difference around the timing chain between the a and c motor...

My engine No. n47d20oo is not under recall according to my maindealer. Car is 58 reg. I suspect BMW will keep on issuing recall notices for different engine numbers until they have done them all.

When you open the driver door then there should be a sticker in the bottom between the front and rear door. Hard for me to explain

The sticker is even lower than the sticker with tyre pressures on it... But yes the engine sticker is on the same pillar

What's all this about? Surely BMW UK are aware of this?

I think it's between 06/07-09, early N47's. I had to give my chassis number when I spoke with my local dealer.

It's said above that it is only the N47D20A engine that's included, just been out and checked mine and it is the above engine code, I'll be ringing my dealer to see whether I am eligible, I'll report back here with whatever outcome

Just been to check my engine No. on the car and it is n47d20a. This does not tally with the number my main dealer quoted off my fob. Am I being fobbed off.

It's only for really old cars!

Had my 2010 car in.... watched the service guy type my car details in & it came back with no QE or recalls.

I called my local BMW today and having given them my VIN, they said there was nothing showing at all. I have a 08 320d 117bhp which I thought would've been included.

Wouldn't it be easier for BMW to just honour any actual engine failures for these engines under warranty instead of this extremely confusing and more so, annoying situation for their customers and ultimately damaging to the brand.

Too many n47 engines around for BMW to do a mass callback. They will try to keep a low profile and quietly modify the higher mileage cars first. When they say there is no callback for your car, they avoid the words "At the moment".
