I never noticed that difference between pre lci and lci. I am a fan of prelci it looks great on your car. I think the roof rack looks awesome on it.

I like the 3D front spoiler. Would pair well with the rear spoiler. And I've got to say the Maple Anthracite looks so clean. Very tasteful.

Been toying with the idea of making a Dinan style intake after reading the thread below and gave it a shot this past weekend.

Current mods:
Euro intake box

I used:
1x 2.5in PVC elbow from Home Depot
1x 2.5in brake duct from Pegasus ( about 18in worth )
1x 2.5in x 2in striaght PVC section
1x Mesh screen repair kit
2x Worm clamps
1x M6 bolt

The M Sport bumper uses the majority of the fog light grille to scoop air in for the brake duct so I had to tap in that.


I was going to use a NACA duct on the inner side of the brake duct but the radiator is in the way. Considered the outer side of the brake duct but after doing some scientific airflow tests with a leaf blower, very little air was being sent to the airbox.


I used a bolt on top as another means to secure the elbow to the brake duct. The implementation definitely isn't pretty.


I decided to put a mesh over the "scoop" but noticed it was really restricting airflow so I cut some slots on the sides just to prevent something from flying in.


The routing is tight due to the LCI headlights and this was the main contributor to choosing 2.5in over something larger.


Again, due to the amount of free space, or lack of it, this was about the only spot where I could do some graceful intrusions.




I also have the headlight washers and they were rudely in the way.

Verdict? Very slight increase in throttle response and slight butt dyno improvement. I'm not sure where the optimal scoop placement should be in the brake duct or if there should be a velocity stack on the scoop to collect more air. I did not notice a change to the induction noise either. I think its a fun hack to enable the N52 to have as much air as possible. For about $60 and a few hours, can't complain

I will be trying out the grille scoops and the intake elbow next to see if those have any improvement.

While having the car lifted up, I installed some angel eyes and HID 4300k fog lights from Top Gear Solutions. I learned the easy way that M Sport fog lights take 9006 sized bulbs. Jeff was super easy to work with and made the exchange super smooth.

So far so good, just wish the outer angel eyes were illuminated brighter. Will try getting some daytime pics.


The angel eye and fog light hue is spot on. My headlight film makes the light look bluer than reality

I have been thinking about a lighting upgrade and this solidified my decision. Just to verify, you went with the 4300K HID fog lights, but 6000K angel eyes?

Are you concerned about puddles? For a street car I would be concerned about pulling air from that low.

LCI lights are the same as non lci where what would have been a high beam is a daytime running light correct? Foolish that BMW did not stay with 4 beams and make the outer a bi-xennon like it is. Nobody would complain about lack of lighting.

I like the lip as opposed to the other bumper.

I like the intake! I've been thinking about trying something similar to my brothers 328 and to my n52 E60.

My Idea was to take a flanged straight piece thru the top of the duct and the rest similar to yours. Did you just JBweld it through the box? there is enough clearance for the 2.5" hose between the wheel liner?

A little concerned, yes. I'm hoping the light corrugation in the pipe will catch water. I'm also curious what the difference in water intake is between this hack and the regular snorkel.

Will probably end up going with the lip this winter. Fingers crossed!

If you don't have brake ducts, I think your idea should be fine. Otherwise, you're going to want to persuade the air to go up the pipe you're adding. The Dinan kit has it


I used both the putty Epoxy, like this, to fill in the large gaps between the PVC and brake duct/airbox and then JB Weld PlasticWeld, like this, for the small stuff and for a layer over the putty.

So if you take out your airbox, it will give you an idea on how much free space you have. You might be able to get away with 3in but I can't vouch for it.

It would just be adding a bit more air so I'm sure the pressure effect would force some air up(similar to the Dinan duct part which pulls vertically). As well they are both winter cars so less water/snow forced is ideal. I was thinking 2" originally but if 2.5 works then I'll be happy with that

But you are right direct force feeding is more efficient.

But you are right direct force feeding is more efficient.

This makes me consider making a small expanding plug to put into the airbox to stop air coming in from the new feed.

Scored some E90 M3 mirrors for a steal recently and I will be wrapping them white soon. Winter is almost here in Chicago so had to take some photos of the current setup before they start salting the roads.

What does the exhaust sound like under load on the street. That's how I like to hear an exhaust note because as most we don't sit parked revving our cars, we drive them.

Actually like the mirrors a different color it makes them stand out. Isn't winter coming today for your region? My son whose in Michigan told me they were expect 3-4 inches of snow.

Amazing setup squaredphoto this is giving me some ideas for my Alpine White E91. Is that the P3 gauge I see? Using it to monitor things other than boost I am assuming? (Ex: were you showing coolant or oil temp?)
