High temp limp mode
I started my bmw e93 325i 3L and drove it 2/3 miles then I got a warning on the idrive that the engine temp was high and it went in to limp mode, the temp on the dials was reading normal about 75/80c
I did a scan and it showed a error for thermostat activation. I have tried to activate the coolant pump but it doesn't seem to do anything. I have looked for the 30amp fuse in the ecu box under the bonnet but there is no fuses in mine just the ecu and a single relay. Could this be a thermostat stuck in the closed position or likely to be something else? |

It sounds like the coolant pump is bad. It won't get hot enough to even open a thermostat in that short of a distance. It probably detected that the coolant pump was inop and sent it into limp mode. Mine went out like that with no other warning on my '09 335i.

I changed the water pump and thermostate and bled the system, i have filled it with water only and drove it for4 days no problem then yesterday i had a temp warning again . could this be because i only filled the system with water?
I only did that so i could make sure all was good before putting coolant in |
