Review :ModMy3: LED front turn signals

I ordered two led bulbs along with two resistors from Modmy3.com, for my front turn signals.

My car is an 07 e90 Pre lci

Originally I had the halogen bulbs with the chrome covering on it to have no egg yolk effect, but these were dim.

Shipping : shipping was definitely costly ~$12 even though it was sent in a small flat rate box (which only costs $5.20 ) . delivery time was quick and took about 5 days which isn't bad at all.

Package : When i opened the package I saw the two led bulbs and the two resistors. Online when I clicked the resistor description, http://www.modmy3.com/bmw-e46/bmw-e4...-resistor.html, it says that it will include two taps per resistor (I received none, but its alright).
The bulb package says Khoalty on it, which i knew was another website that sold BMW parts. So as curious as I am I went to Khoalty.com to compare the prices, they were both the same.

Install : I followed this guide http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75350.
I swapped out one of the bulbs first and wanted to see what would happened if i used them without the resistor, and surprisingly it was blinking at a normal speed and there was no errors on dash. I put the bulb in the other side and drove the car and still no errors.

I will buy from Modmy3 again, they had great customer service and were answering my questions that I had prior to purchase.

I would make sure it's safe to run with no resistors. Double check

is this because it may melt the housing?

I think you may be slightly confused--the resistors generate heat, LED emitters themselves generate very little heat (very efficient) however, the resistors certainly put out heat, so those *could* melt a housing, but if they're properly mounted, it's not an issue.

I know that, but I'm not running resistors currently and there are no errors

Resistors also limit current and can act as a simple transient suppressor. I'd put them in, even if the bulb out message doesn't yet appear to have detected the new bulbs.

Hi Cuba,

Great review and thank you for the video! They look really good on your car and we're glad you're happy with them.

We apologize for forgetting your taps and will send them out to you ASAP.

I'd just like to clear up any confusion about the packaging. When you placed your order, our system showed your bulbs as being in stock because it didn't update right away when a few other orders were being fulfilled. We had to outsource from Khoalty, which is another great vendor so we could send your bulbs right away, rather than making you wait until our next shipment came in. We know the quality of their products, so we were just trying to help you out as quickly as we could to get your bulbs to you.

Have a great day and please let us know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Marie

How long have you been running them without the resistors now? Still no problems/errors?
Also, I'm assuming you haven't coded out the bulb check, am I correct? If so, this is great, I might grab a set for myself!

Thanks for the write-up!

If your LEDs are working fine without the resistors, leave them off. The only reason you might need them is to draw extra current so the computer doesn't think the bulb is burnt out, or the LED to flashes too quickly. LEDs draw much less current than normal bulbs. Since the resistors draw current that the LED doesn't need, it gets hot as it dissipates that current as heat.

Which bulb size did you get? 7507 looks like the base has staggard nubs while 1156 doesn't.

I'm interested in getting the amber ones for my 08 e90.

Sweet thanks. Let me know if you get around to installing the amber ones. It'd be cool to see how amber they are compared to stock. Now if I could just figure out how to code my car with windows 7...

I didn't need resisters for my LED's. No strobing, just white LED's.

Been a little over 3 and a half months. Still running great. No errors. 10/10 would recommend.
