Here's something that I have noticed on my daily commute to work:

1) Everyone complains about the price of gas but most of the cars I see on my way to work are single occupancy

2) Even though people are complaining, there is still the same number of cars on the road. Still just as much traffic, and takes me just as long to get to work

SO.....

This says to me that despite all the complaining people just keep paying. No one is adjusting their travelling habits.

I'm fortunate enough to have a company car so my gas is covered and my E90 (which still hasn't arrived) is going to be my weekend fun car.

If the price of gas is so outrageous why does everyone keep paying?? I could take transit to work but I don't because I don't have to pay for gas, but I would if I had to........stop complaining and do something about it!

Probably because people still find it better to pay for gas than to deal with our completely inadequate public transit system.
Even if you live in Richmond, you are looking at 1 hour and a half to close to 2 hours to get to Downtown Vancouver on the bus at certain times of the day..

I'm sorry, but it seems to me that you are part of the problem as well, by choosing to drive even if it's free, you're creating more demand for gas resulting in increased prices.

But I'm not complaing about the price of gas. I'm talking about the people that complain yet do nothing to change their ways

yea, especially people who drive big ass SUV / pickup trucks that carry nothing!!

More and more people WILL gradually shift toward public transit in the future, especially after the skytrain in richmond is completed. It's not going to be a sudden thing for sure.. People don't just wake up overnight and say "I'm going to sell my car and take the bus from now on." Maybe once they realize that their paycheck isn't making ends meet.. they'll make a deeper thought into it.

With the gas price so high I have estimated my cost of gasoline for my 335i. I would be paying around $510 per month...OUCH!!!! 3months ago I was averaging only $300 per month. Anyone else here paying that much for gas per month...LOL!!!

Well it doesn't mean, just because you drive a BMW you could pay outrageous amount on gas. I'm sure a lot(most) of the forum members
make enough $$$ that +$200 on gas every month is not a big problem.

You have to remember though, there are also members like me who had to really stretch their budget to drive their cars.
I mean when the gas price hits $2 per litre in the near future, that's a lot of premium that you have to pay for the same good.

I think people are just complaining about the high gas prices because it is relatively so much more expensive than it was from before, not that people can't afford it. I bought my own car, not that it really matters...

I see people buying soft drinks at the vending machine for $1.50 for a 355ml can, thats like $4.5/L, those people don't complain about that, but they bitch about gas prices, thats what's stupid. Soft drinks will make you fat and ruins your teeth. At least the gas in your car will make you smile when you drive it and gets you to places...

A lot of my coworkers are trying out different things to save on gas, like carpooling, take transit for 1 day out of 5 working days, that will cut your gas consumption 20% more less...

I don't complain about paying too much, I just buy some oil company stocks to offset the higher gas prices...ahha!

Just my $0.02

I totally agree with this point. I never over extend myself lets just say some off us could easily afford more expensive cars, but opt not too by choice. Hence I have no concerns over the current gas prices.
