Help ID my new 320i leak
Hi all,
Bought a 05 build 320i e90 for my wife. I have a bit of an oil leak, I assumed it was the vac pump so ordered the parts for it. However today I am doing a bit of an exploratory dissasembly to make sure it is vac.... looks like it is not. Pics enclosed, please help! most of the moistness looks around the sparkplugs and coil region. you can see a bit of the dripping on the o2 sensor that was what made me think it was vac. valve cover gasket? EDIT: could it also just be the valvetronic actuator seal?? number 7 on this diagram (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=11_3179) Last edited by scales82; 06-13-2016 at 12:14 AM.. |

First pic is the eccentric shaft sensor gasket, Judging by the look of your other pics, it looks like a valve cover gasket leak, along with the valvetronic motor gasket.

Thanks for the reply! Is the valvetronic motor gasket a seperate buy? Or is it the smaller of the two when you buy the valve gasket kit? as in the smaller gasket shown as item number 2 in this link, http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=11_3179
I have already ordered the shaft sensor gasket, and a valve/rocker cover gasket kit which has the two mentioned in it. EDIT: Nevermind, I realised i was right, it is the smaller gasket. both gaskets arrived in the mail today, along with vanos solenoid o-ring upgrade kit, and a vacuum pump o-ring kit. I'll do the whole lot over the weekend. Hopefully the oil filter housing ring is okay, but i can do that another time Last edited by scales82; 06-15-2016 at 01:41 AM.. |
