if AE is not visible during the day, I can live with that, at least not yellow. if the night color is white, then its perfect. thanks

The RD can be purchased for about $50 bucks and they will do the job...I see how LUX might be the best thing for the AE but I honesetly think they are WAY to over priced. At this point I'm about to just buy an HID kit and customize it myself for the AE. |

You need a pin to put it in place. Amazingly the 4 led bulb is brighter than the 9 LED bulb that I bought, I will take a picture tonight and post so you can see I still have them on my car. I actually think the 12v blue 4led will look nice during the day and sick at night, I just need to buy another set since the second order I did was for only white bulbs. |

the 12v does stay illuminated... heres the link for the bulbs: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...3890#BA9s-xHP9 you want to order the Blue 12v 4 led bulb BA9s-W4-32 Degree no it does not through off any errors. and the OEM bulb is a halogen bulb. or you can go with the RD retrofit which you can find 2 members have already done on this forum and you can see pics for both on this thread and a DIY as well which is simple. GL and let us know what you do.. |

You cant use a HID kit, HID bulbs wont hit inside that area. HIDS's will also get Much too how.

If this blue bulb works without the extra pin support in the socket
then I am happy. are you keeping yours? if you are trying a whole new level of HID angel eye adventures, sell the blue bulbs to me please I am kind of scratching my head, why the heck am I spending so much time on this SH!T and its not fun at all.

you said LUX fit without problem. how? without cutting the wiring and plugs, how do we connect? Sorry to say LUX is not plug and play and the price is way over our budget. I would not mind trying out some old Lux4 to keep the cost down, do you have any around we can try? thank you.

seem like if you use this RD LED bulb, you need to cut the OEM wiring plug, can you guys show the wiring details?

Hi, I also recently performed a (Euro) LCI Halogen/Angel Eye retrofit on my Canadian spec. pre-LCI e90 (thanks to forum member SUI for the headlamps!!) and added in the Racing Dash (RD) LED bulbs (aka "LED Ring Marker for BMW Angel Eyes" on eBay.ca).
The replacement of the OEM angel eye bulb with the RD bulbs is quite easy, just as described previously in this thread by 808E90 (Thank you, sir!!) in Post#31. I originally installed the 3W RD LEDs (7000K color), but am now going to switch to using the the High Power 6W RD LEDs (aka "Version II") instead. I just received the high power ones today and did a test fit; you can definitely tell that they are brighter than the 3W LEDs (see below). Here are some pics that may be helpful for others who are also interested in performing the RD retrofit on the LCI Halogen headlamps: 1. OEM LCI Halogen headlight housing (left hand side; I eventually replaced all the H7 bulbs with PIAA Extreme White bulbs): 2. Rear covers removed 3. Angel eye bulb is located at the bottom 4. After removing the OEM angel eye bulb and bracket assembly 5. Disassembling the OEM angel eye unit. There are three major components: 1) AE bulb (H10W) screwed into a reflector socket; 2) glass piece (heat shield?) held inside a metal bracket; 3) plastic support bracket. 6. Removed the (white) OEM connectors and crimped on two new female connectors (22-18 AWG) from Canadian Tire 7. Attached the RD LED bulb to the plastic support bracket by using two 1-inch long self-tapping screws. The metal frame containing the glass piece/heat shield was not used since the RD LED could only be secured in place by having the screws penetrate through the plastic support bracket to the other side. Moreover, I've heard somewhere that these types of LED bulbs "shouldn't generate that much heat..." 8. 3W (left) versus 6W (right) RD LED - View 1 9. 3W (left) versus 6W (right) RD LED - View 2 10. Comparison of 6W RD LED vs 3W RD LED, both 7000K color (Photo taken during a cloudy evening at about 7 PM) 11. 3W RD LED, 7000K 12. 6W RD LED, 7000K General comments: 1) The 3W RD LEDs (7000K) are very white and don't show up very well at all during the daytime in bright sunlight. (I have not yet checked to see how the 6W LEDs look in broad daylight; maybe sometime later this week...) However, they are visible when the car is parked in shaded areas. 2) The LCI Halogen angel eyes (AEs) do NOT turn on with the daytime running lights (DRLs). The AEs only turn on when the parking lights are on or when the low beams are on. Moreover, the DRLs on Canadian spec. vehicles can not be disabled by the driver (don't know if it's possible to have DRLs de-programmed by a dealership, though...) 3) I have no idea how much heat the 6W LEDs will generate inside the headlamp housing. Not sure if it's better to re-attach the glass heat shield back inside when I do the 6W LED installation....??? Hope this info is useful...! |
