I think its worth it to have these as driving lights, as long as you can see them during the day :/

I PMed him earlier today here is what he said:

Hi Dennis,

That is a good question. I have not had experience with the LCI headlights but it should work with the new headlights as you will just tap into the power source for the angel eyes. The rest of the wiring will not change on the car as you are only swapping the headlights.

Thanks,

I installed the DAEOS/Vista DRL harness from JLevi on my (pre-LCI) 2008 e90 w/ upgraded LCI halogen headlights back in June, and everything works fine. There are no OBC errors as long as you turn on the ignition while the headlight switch is in the 'Off' position. You may occasionally get an error if you turn on the ignition while the headlight switch is in a position other than the 'Off' position. (Unfortunately, there is no driver-accessible option to turn off the daytime running lights on my Canadian-spec vehicle, so both the DRLs and the AEs come on whenever I turn on the ignition. Still, it does look rather nice having the AEs come on all the time while driving...)

That's great news. I am going to upgrade in the next couple of months, so then I'll def pick up this kit. How bright are the Halos on the Halogen set up? Can they be seen during daylight driving. I keep going back in forth between getting the pre-lci Xenon setup or the LCI halogen lights. I think the Xenons look great, but LCI Halogen lights are way cheaper and look pretty good too.

I think that's the direction I am heading. If I get the pre-lci xenons I want to get some silver/white overlays to go over the amber corners and get some black eyebrows for the top. I think that will give me the look I want.

Unfortunately, the AEs with the RD V2 LED (6W) bulbs on my LCI halogens are only barely visible in bright daylight. However, they are visible during overcast days, and look nicest during the early morning/evening/nighttime.

It seems that mds82 is putting out a LUX AE product for LCI halogens soon, so that could be one way to get brighter AEs that are more suitable for use as DRLs with these particular headlights.... (see http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=298973)

So I ended up buying a set of LCI Halogen lights. Now I need some help.

1. When will the LUX 5.0 Plug and Play set be available? I would prefer to spend more for a plug and play set vs buying the RD leds and having to modify.

2. What can I do to the headlight beams to make them look nicer? I read about HID kits on here, but can you put a HID kit in a halogen housing? I don't want to blind other drivers . I just want a criper/cleaner look (not so yellow)

I have an HID kit on my halogens and so does everyother car in Miami.

Anyhow if you dont want to blind anyone just replace the bulbs to some PIAA bulbs, several vendors sell them on here. do some research to find the best price or the light output that you are looking for.

I have a prototype coming in tomorrow to make sure that everything fits perfectly. After that i'll make them all and get them ready to go

hey guys,

the only thing I hate about this LCI halogen setup is the DRL (daytime running light) in yellow color and my angel eye is in white.
doesn't make a lot of sense and its an ugly looking combination
I bought the brightest H7 bulbs and the result is the same

I don't know the US cars are the same or not
What I like to do is to make the DRL in bright white color.
Am I challenging the impossible mission?

Hey on the JLevi site it states that: "Please note that if you do not have the option to disable your DRL lights on your iDrive or Turn Signal Stalk, a visit to the dealer may be required to de-program them."

Have you tried to visiting the dealer to turn off the DLRs?

I am going to be doing this soon, and I am hoping that I can kill the DLRs and just leave the AEs ON.

The laws SUCKS in Canada which require DRL to be on at all time.
the dealer won't do because its against the law.
the cops can fine you if DRL is off.
the only way is to buy something brighter ......or make it as bright as the low beam
thanks for your suggestion

Oh that sucks. We don't have such laws in US. I'll give it a try once I replace the lights.

so I stopped by the dealer on my way to work today and turns out in the US cars you can turn off running lights from the user options by using the scroll wheel.

I will be installing the headlights this weekend. I'll post some pics when I am done.
