Better off buying index#12. They can be mixed so you don't need to have them in same index number hence the required coding and index#9 has been more troublesome than higher index numbers.

I thought index 12 injectors cannot be mixed with anything below index 11? I'm still using index 7 injectors that are still fine aside from one that is ticking louder than the others. I don't want to replace all 6 or even 3 if I don't have to.

Why are the injectors coded then? Mix away. Many have done it with out adverse effect. If someone claims otherwise there was another issue. I ran mix of 3 index#8 and 3 index#12 for about 3 years before I replaced the remaining 3 index#8.

Bmw says you must replace the entire bank if mixing and matching, which is either 1,2,3 or 4,5,6. So technically you were probably following what they said

I have used index 09 if your interested. Took them off because I was running a mix of 9 and 11 so updated them all to 12. Had no issues with these.

Bmw states never to mix 10 and lower with 11 and 12 on the same bank... I have never done it I can't see what would be the problem.. From what I know the 10 and lower were Internally oil cooled the oil would "coke" and they would overheat and fail..
The index 11 and 12 are fuel cooled and have been much more reliable.. The fuel is labrynthed through the inj before injection...

What could be the worst that happens... Nothing catastrophic, drivability.. Possibly...

BMW states a lot of things don't they? Selling 3 instead of 1 is good business strategy. Of corse results would vary but from my car and others, some FBO too, no issues running mix injectors. I was sceptical too years ago from reading online. Not anymore.

Like I said I've never done it not do I think there would or should be a problem with it... Just what they state as well as the differences between them... From what I know
What I can guarantee is they have reason..

Butttt remember they didn't make the injector and most of these are warranty as well.. Either they want the manufacturer to laugh up injector or something but technically it isn't them do I gong it

Appreciate all the input guys. For now, I think i'm going to stick with getting a new index 10 or lower (preferably 10) injector. Haven't really read of many people mixing the newer index 11+ injectors with older ones. There's probably no harm in doing so but i'd rather play it safe as there's already enough that can go wrong with these damn cars.
