N53 engine, found plastic thingy in oil pan?

Hi guys – could anyone identify this plastic part? I am struggling to find where the thing may of fallen off. I just recently did my oil pan gasket on my 325i N53 engine last week. I have a feeling I may of knocked this thing off somewhere when I was doing my Rocker \ Valve cover gasket last year.

I did have a good look around when my oil pan was off however could not find where this thing was supposed to go back.

I am suspecting its from the top of the engine rather than the lower \ bottom end.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,
Cheers,

I'm guessing...but could it be part of the timing chain guide rail? Item 3 in this diagram:

Thanks matey, I to initially thought it was something to do with the timing chain plastic(s) but I just could not see where the thing is from. It does not look broken or sheared off. It looks like it sits somewhere. There is no number on the bastard thing either for us to go by. I shall keep checking realoem, may pop into BMW to see if one of their techs know where its from.

Good plan. Let us know when you identify it...
