How smooth should the ride be?

Ok, so my VW jetta has never been too smooth like there is an ever present, so slight a vibration (like tire balance) when going 65+ mph. I've replaced tires, balanced, road force balance, rotated tires, new tires again, etc. Now I just got my 335 and at about 75, there is a very slight vibration, really light, like tire balance. I have decent, non-runflat, tires. I was expecting a butter ride since my Jetta has bugged for over a year.
How smooth should the ride be, like silk or some minimal vibration normal? Maybe I'm picky?

I came form Audi b8 and I thought my 335 is broken due to road feedback. You'r jetta is nothing like this car, and as soon as you push it trough corners you will notice that. But no no vibrations just A LOT of road feedback.

Ditto...up until last month my '12 Jetta TDI was my dd. The Jetta never had vibration, even at 80+ whether I was on stock 16's (smooth) or my 18's which made it feel more like a go cart.

My 335d definitely has more feedback and feels more "raw" than the Jetta drivetrain with dsg which felt very smooth in a straight line, but there is no comparission when cornering. Unfortunately I am on RFTs that are almost new so do not want to waste $, but even with that on the D, the car has no steering wheel shake at high speed, just more feedback and if anything I could complain about...a slight pull to the left at highway speed, which I may just have an alignment done to make me worry less.

Yes get rid of RTF the ride quality will improve, much better with sport contact 5 non RTF like a new car for me. Sadly yes the pull to either side is famous for these cars also a slight angle on the road will do it, it is really sensitive. Mine does/did it to the right ride. New tires alignment done etc etc. nothing helps. if everything is checked try this: just find a large incline go at it with angle with one front tyre, so that one wheel is raised another sits lower turn to right and left while standing on incline do the same with other side *hard to explain" sometimes something pops in the place and solves the problem until you raise the car on lift again or get new tyres or rims. really annoying but def something with suspension that pops out or something .....

I find the stock suspension real floaty over bumps at high speed. I'm hoping a shock replacement fixes that.

Seeing another post reminded me: have you checked all the tires for bubbles? Even a small one can cause a vibration. Don't forget to check the insides, too.

What suspension we talking about? Standard, sport, M sport? My m sport was harsh on pot holes and transitions but excellent on choppy freeway surfaces. But my ALH Jetta would just eat up everything with is soft suspension and large sidewalls. The 335d M sport handles like its on rails in the corners compared to the Jetta. Really not good vehicles to even compare to each other, very different vehicles.

Also the bridgestone driveguard run flats got rid of the harshness vs the OE run flats that the 335d came with. A great compromise for people who want better ride but want to keep a run flat tire.

Good to know...that is what I'm running on now. So the OE RFTs are even worse?

They are horrible that's why run flats get a bad name.

It does, and getting stiffer rear shock mounts and subframe bushings help too.

I think it's going in for tire balance this week. Gets progressively worse as 80mph and above come around.
