Are you sure the 318d and 320d don't already share the same turbo?

That may be because the 318 injectors are smaller than the 320 injectors. Have a look on real oem.

From memory the 18 and 20 have the same turbos - the difference is that the 20 has piezo (vs solenoid) injectors, and higher fuel pressure, and a map to suit. If you want 230hp out of your 18, you'll have to make some big changes.

You could transplant a complete 20 lump in there, since the mounts etc are identical - this is probably simpler and cheaper than upgrading a 18 to 20 spec via individual components.

Personally, and I know I'm biased, I'd go for a 6 pot engine...which really means new car for simplicity and cost reasons. That'd get you to the 230hp figure as stock (or thereabouts), and a map will take you nearer 300 if you fancy it.

Good luck, whichever route you take!

I do agree with the 6 pot but the cost at moment is putting mw off as expecting 2nd child and cost id get px to then get a 6pot is a big jump...( if was going that route id buy a range sport ha)

I had a 330d 300bhp before and absolutely loved it tho was 615nm very quick

I love this 318d it looks great and drives great just dropped 800 on it for timing chain ect.... spoke to derv tech and apparently bolting 320d injectors and turbo on mine of same year ect gives you pretty much the 320d engine and quite an easy bolt on mod which they have done a few of so am pretty tempted in long run .. just been to devon in mine and was very impressed fuel wise and also the torque and power was more than good enough up the hills and motorway ect so this mod might take back seat while think about maybe lowering and dash trim gloss black

Yep, nowt wrong with the 18...you're not a racing driver, it's not a race car, and public roads aren't a race track. Nobody *needs* any more than what it's got, really. And yeah, the economy is good!
