Kinda a different question... Euro license plate?

OK quick but kinda different question. I did a search but couldn't find any specific information.

When you take European Delivery, you get a "temporary" license for Europe. The question is, is this "temporary" plate similar to what we have here in the states, just a piece of paper that you tape in your back window? Or do you actually get some kind of metal or plastic plate that looks like a real euro plate? And if you do, do you get to keep it?

I think it would be an awesome souvenir.

yes you get a REAL souvenir...on the downside they drill holes through your bumper!!! my state doesn't require a front plate, so that would drive me nuts. unless you like the look of the German front plate, US back plate??

My state requires a front plate (unfortunately ) so that's not a huge issue.

But if I was able to keep the euro plates it'd make something really cool to hang on the wall with some nice pictures of the trip.

I would hope so. I know on the Volkswagons the four holes for a US plate will also fit a Euro plate holder so I can't believe it's any different for BMW, them being a better brand and all

You could have found the license plate answer in the ED Wiki, I'm pretty sure.

But to answer your question about the holes. The holes are drilled to fit the actual US license bracket/frame. They install the ED plate onto the bracket, so it actually sticks out on the right and left hand-sides beyond the bracket.

So did you buy a euro plate holder for your car? From your sig pic it looks that way. Cost?

No it's the original bracket that came with the car in Munich. I just put the ED plates back on when I got the car re-delivered. The ED plates are wider than the bracket, but I'm cool with it. :rocks:

Zero cost.
