Confused about tyre sizes?
I need to replace my rear tyres and I've been looking online and my current tyres don't appear to be the correct size?
I've got a 2006 BMW 320i, with 16" Rims. The current tyres are 225/50/R16 Is this incorrect? It appears that the suggested tyres are 205/55/R16, which is different on both the width and the profile? Anyone got any advice on which ones I should get? Very confused Thank you. |

That size is fine.
Everytime you go wider by 20 you should drop the sidewall (which is a percentage of the width) by one, so going 205/55 to 225 would need a 50% sidewall profile instead of the 55%. Use the tyre calculator on the top of this section to get an understanding of tyre sizes. Hello from Wymondham btw!! |
