Goodyear Eagle F1 all seasons

Unfortunately, I got between a rock and a hard place and had to buy 4 new Goodyear Eagle F1 all seasons for my 335xi (non-stock staggered 18's-225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rears). I took the stock RFT's off after the first 1000 miles and switched to non-runflat older style Pirelli P-Zero Nero (assymetric tread design). I loved the Pirelli's, much softer, much better handling but after 19,000 miles, the right front developed a huge tear and the rears had about 2/32 of tread left. I know Pirelli's wear fast but that was kind of surprising. Anyway...does anybody have any experience with these Eagle F1's (they aren't assymetric, more of a "V" style, like the Formula 1 wet tires)? I live in Florida and don't need the all seasons but this was all I could get 1 hour before everything closed for the Thanksgiving weekend. Yes, my next set of tires will be something way different but just want to know what you guys think of these tires for wet and dry traction (don't care about the snow here in FL). I don't expect them to be as good as the Pirelli's for dry handling but we'll see what 3 years of technology can do. Thanks for any responses.

i haven't tried them but Goodyear Eagle F1s usually have a great reputation.
Never heard anything bad about them.

I have these tires. I think they have to be one of the worst sets of tires I have ever purchased. In the beginning they had good grip and I was hoping with their rating they would last at least 25,000 miles. But, I am currently at about 17,000 miles and they are the loudest tires I have ever heard and they are almost bald. Even my friends complain about how loud they are when in the car. I won't be going with them again.

F1 A/S has great wet traction but they get pretty noisy as they wear.

19000 miles out of a performance tyre? I'd say that's just about right. Some people go through them in 10k.

AGREE!!

I had them on my G35 and they SUCKED. hated them and was so glad to get rid of them.

Give the conti DWS's a try, they are a great tire!

The F1 is a good tire. 17,000 miles of mostly NYC driving; haven't blown out a side-wall and they've still got 8/32 of thread on each corner. It's a hella good looking tire to boot.

Conti DWS's are ok; I've got them on my 135i but, it's hardly a great tire. My guess is they paid ringers to post these obscenely great reviews on TireRack.

Fact: pirelli winter tires perform better than DWS's. I know 'cause I have both tires.

apples to oranges, DWS is all season. can't compare to a winter tire.

the DWS are very good all around as an all season.

Eagle F1 AS were actually recalled last year. The CF sidewall breaks down and you are in danger of having a blow out when it happens. I had them on my other car and mine were registered so we got a call about the recall. Discount tire replaced all of them with a different set of Eagle AS tires.

The cf sidewall is another reason why people hate the feeling of the Eagle F1's. It just wasn't designed right.

Well, after 1000 miles...I have a little more input on these. LOUD, is the first thing you notice. If they do get louder as they wear, that will not be a good thing, they are already way louder than the Pirellis. They seem to have decent traction in the dry and in the wet but we haven't had a typical FL summer downpour yet to really try them out in. They are pretty soft when going over potholes and curbs, that I like. I just don't have the confidence in them to hang it out like I did the Pirellis but that's more of a mental block with me, I'm pretty sure they'll do just fine, they seem to have pretty good grip. 99% sure I wouldn't buy these again but so far, I'm not hating them, other than being loud...

Update to the update...got a flat in the left front the other day and replaced the fronts with one of the last sets of 225/40zr 18's anywhere. I really didn't want to go back to these tires but didn't want to spend $1000 on 4 new tires since the rears still have 50% tread left, at least. I'm eventually going M6 reps and Michelin ps all the way around but want to do that next tax refund so I went cheap this time, $258 for 2 Goodyear f1 all season directionals isn't bad at all. They discontinued the tire awhile ago and now have an asymetric all season. I live in FL and don't want all seasons but I keep finding myself in this stupid position! Anyway, after 14k miles, the fronts were down to about 40% and get louder by the day. They still tram line bad but stick pretty good and def hold their own in the wet. I never used them in snow. I was amazed at how quiet the new ones are, just means they are going to get louder now. Since i can't find replacement rears, these fronts will be for sale in about a year, anybody want 'em? Lol!
