Week 10 Production moved to Week 15 due to iPod/USB (6FL) option

I just called to inquire about my week 10 e93 335 production status and I'm now told that the vehicle has been moved to week 15 due to the iPod (6FL) option.

Has anyone else encountered a similar problem. BMW sent a bulletin to the production status line folks indicating that the delay is due to the supplier.

Anyone else experiencing a simlilar problem?

I ordered my E93 on February 6th and it just moved into Status 112 this past Monday...my CA hinted that the post-March 1st build options of Platinum Bronze metallic paint, HD radio without deleting RTTI and iPod/USB might delay production by a week or two...despite today's sunny skies and mid-60 temps, we're still a long way from New England top-down driving.

E93 / 6MT / ZPP / ZSP / ZCW / Comfort Access / Active Steering / Nav / Sirius / HD Radio / iPod-USB / Park Distance Control

Order Placed: 02/06/07
Status 112: 03/12/07
Anticipated Delivery: late 04/07

A number of people (myself included) had their cars produced in early March with the 6FL option. If there is a supplier problem I'm glad mine got done before they ran out of the units.

thanks guys, this is the second e93 I ordered. the first one was completed on 2/5 and should arrive next week, without the integrated iPod option (available 3/1/07). you guys are lucky, perhaps my CA pushed my vehicles production to ensure that i don't wait and pick-up the first vehicle.

Is that worth it, to wait 5 more weeks because of that? I'd delete if possible, think about how much that costs time-wise.

I have a platinum bronze E93 (328) with the 6FL option - car finished production on March 6 (ordered end of January). I've seen threads about an engine shortage for the 335's (same engine as the new 5 series, which apparently is the reason for the shortage), so I'd inquire if that is the real issue. Mine's definitely a 'March production' since I also have the comfort access option.

No 6FL is only available from factory, at least that is my understanding.

The dealer installed version is different and more limited than 6FL.

i just got a call from my dealer and the delay is attributed to the high demand of the 335 engine and not the iPod/USB port (which I originally thought). the 2008 535 is causing the shortage and the reason for a week 15 production. i think whomever ordered a 535 can wait since it's an '08 model and not even mid-2007. why the e93 was launched as an '07 model beats me. mine's a keeper so resale value isn't an issue.
