I have a new appreciation for how much work goes into prepping for paint, after effing up 2 doors by short changing the prep and having to sand them back and undercoat them again, I wasn't taking any chances with prepping the rest of the car, many many hours spent sanding, I'm almost too nervous to top coat it for fear of effing it up Its been slow going since I've been back at work, also have been away most weekends and now its pi$$ing rain in Canberra today so I won't top coat it this weekend Some pics of the prepped undercoat |

Finally put the top coat on the e36 roof, boot, rear quarters sills, door jams etc
Came out pretty good, a couple of runs that I'll have to sand out, but apart from that all good Only doors, front valance and front bumper to paint, on the home stretch now |

Thought I'd answer Socks question about the progress om the e36 in here
Slow going atm, seem to be away or busy every weekend, and works also been busy, slowing the evening progress Car is going back together, I'll post some pics on the weekend, rear wing, front guards, bonnet, front grill, rear windows, head lining and sunroof all back in now, re-trimmed headlining looks good will need to do some touchups but the car is looking really good |

Pics of the progress
Pic 1 - New roof lining Pics 2,3 and 4 Car is going back together nicely, panel gaps are pretty good and the bits I've wet sanded and then used cutting compound on are coming up good Hard to tell from the pics but the doors and bonnet aren't quite cut back to a full shine yet, they still have some fine scratches from the wet sanding and the rear bumper and rear spoiler have been partially wet sanded but not cut so they're not shiny at all Lots to do still but at least it's starting to look like a car again |

More work on the m3 today
Got the doors fitting almost perfect, wasn't happy with the way they were fitting after the weekend, they're now better than they ever have been since I've owned the car, also prepped and resprayed the front bumper and left side skirt which I wasn't happy with Good progress, I can see the finish line |

More progress this weekend
Resprayed the rear quaters where I'd stuffed up the first time, so I have now completely finished painting the red bits, just have to do the wheels and the black trim also made some repairs to some interior panels so they'll fit properly ans did some more wet sanding and cutting back of the paint and spent some time getting the bonnet to fit properly The good news is that reconstruction can start in earnest now |
