Factory Sub and Rear Deck Speaker Replacements Recommendation
Hey guys,
I have a 2008 BMW 328i with the HiFi system and I need some help with speakers. My passenger under-seat subwoofer and rear passenger deck speaker are blown out. So I'm looking for some not so costly replacements. I'm not looking for upgrades as I'm using the factory HU and factory AMP with no plans to swap. What would be some good drop in replacements. I had bought some Sony speakers for the rear deck but they are 4ohm and I've been seeing threads saying the factories are 2ohm and 4ohm won't work. Please help |

If you buy a proper component pair they should have the impedence
rating listed as a pair through the crossover. Better speakers require more power no matter what the ohms rating is as a general rule. This get's back to the problem the Hi Fi amp is a weak piece of crap. The laws of electricity say the resistance of anything in parallel is halfed if it is of equal value . Two 2 ohm loads in parallel is 1 ohm. 1/Rt = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 +. |

Look for a Hi Fi system that is about all you can go on.
If you could get the seller to give you close up's you could match part numbers. Have you actually looked at these speakers and seen they are bad or are you assuming they are the cause of the problem and not something else like the amp going bad. Water on the amp is a common problem in these. Last edited by ctuna; 01-08-2021 at 01:22 PM.. |

If you haven't looked at the speaker's and taken them out and tested
them some other way you have know way of knowing what the problem is. It's much more likely that something is wrong with the amp. And/Or if you are turning it up and expecting it to sound good it won't Because the Hi Fi system is incapable of playing something at volume without distorting. |

You need to check the amplifier area for water.
This is a known problem with these cars . The amp is behind the drivers rear wheel well under the trunk floor covering . |

Yeah it looks pretty clean .
You might try re seating the connector make sure the Radio is off and maybe the dissconnect the battery. It's done with the lever on the connector. |

It’s pretty late now so I’ll pull the harness and reseat. I’ll also check the connector behind the head unit as well.

It's always good to check the basic's first which means a visual
and reseating connectors and these cars you always want to check the battery voltage on the alternator voltage before going deeper. Good job. |
