They're not too tricky to fit.

First up, pull up the center console trim. Go steady, and use trim removal tools - don't be tempted to jab a screwdriver under there!

With that lifted you'll see connectors for the ash tray, and where fitted, the nav controller, and auto gearbox P, R, N, D screen. It's clear how they unplug.

After that, lift the console trim out and remove the original ash - just 4x screws on the underside. Keep them safe, as the oddments tray doesn't come with any screws.

Next, I took the cigarette lighter itself out of the original ashtray. That was the toughest bit, as it's properly wedged in! To power it the wireless mat, I plugged a USB charger into the cigarette lighter then the wireless charger into that. That saved cutting any wires 🙂

The new oddments tray has a hole under the rubber mat. It's not quite big enough to feed the wireless charger cable through, so I opened it up a bit with some pliers. Not elegant, but you never see it with the charger above.

After that, refit and enjoy 👍
Thanks 🙏 Did you hide the cigarette lighter underneath the oddments tray ? Where did you get the oddments tray ? £36 upwards on eBay ?

Hey no worries 🙂 I hid the cigarette lighter and leftover cables just in front of the oddments tray - under the center of the dashboard, as it were. I wrapped the lighter socket itself up in electrical tape as well, just to be safe too.

I got the oddments tray from eBay, yep. I found a used one, but they don't come up too often by the looks of it.

Did you use the mat that comes with tray ? Is underneath it or not use it ? As I put my charger on it is sloped and moves about ? I not opened the hole up yet gonna file it out .

Hello! Sorry, not on here much at the mo as I've had the quadruple hit of tax, insurance, MOT, and a service over the last few weeks. Not much room for mods really!

Yep, I used the mat that came with the tray. I trimmed off the round bung/plug bit on the underside so it sits flat against the charging mat.

After that I opened up the hole at the bottom of the tray itself so I could thread the cable through, and trimmed the charging mat a bit so it sits flatter in the tray.

No doubt you're already sorted but I felt bad not seeing this til now 😂

An update! It's been a while.

A few weeks ago I was chatting to someone on Insta who has a ridiculously well specced Individual E90. This made me realise just how much I like the extended leather colour on the dash and console. Mine needed some fakery, so I grabbed a bottle of leather colourant and set to work.

I don't think this will be that durable at all. The colourant sits on top of the faux leather dash and console, and hasn't absorbed in the slightest. Future cleaning of those bits will be limited to a wipe with a clean, dry microfiber cloth or the shaving brush I keep in the car for the alcantara bits! There's plenty of colourant left for any repairs that WILL be needed in time.

At the same time, I re-wrapped the console trim and tidied up the CCC controller trim as well. For love nor money I can't find a Diamant Schwarz or Piano CCC console trim, so this will have to do for now.

Some pics!

I'm no expert at wrapping trim, but it's passable!

Done!

The eagle eyed amongst you will have spotted the M Performance alcantara steering wheel trim as well. BMW had 20% off across their eBay listings a couple of weeks ago, so I snapped this up for just short of £33. Winner!

Some very cheap mats found their way in as well. As good as the genuine BMW all weather mats are, they get really dusty looking in the summer and it's been so so dry here in the UK lately.

Oh! Please enjoy a bonus pic of the shaving brush I keep in the car to knock the dust off things. It fits into the driver's side storage tray like a glove and - let's be honest - looks way better than a normal detailing brush 😂

Following all of the other interior tidying up, the one big thing that was letting the side down was the steering wheel. Look at the shininess. That's nothing but dirt and grease!

So, TLC time. I grabbed a wheel refurb kit and got to work 🙂

The initial, shiny 'n grimy wheel. Some of the gouges and finger nail scratches to the leather, especially at the top of the wheel, were pretty deep and I didn't think I'd get them out.

Here's the kit. There's quite a bit to it, including leather cleaner and prep solutions, the dye, coloured tints to warm or cool the overall tone, application pads, and a few nooks and crannies bits.

After the initial cleaning stages. Looking better already 🙂 By the amount of dye this pulled up, it was safe to say the original top coat had long since disappeared.

I didn't take that many photos during the process, but I think this was after the cleaning and sanding stages. Yep, this did involve sanding the gouges and finger nail scratches from the top of the wheel.

Eep!

Done!

Although they're not entirely gone, the finger nail scratches at the top of the wheel are a load less noticeable than they were. Am I alright to be really happy with how this came out? Because I am! 😊

Here's a before and after, which shows the change a little better. Oh, also grabbed an M Performance steering wheel trim too, as BMW had 20% off on eBay at around that time. Fresh fresh fresh!

Oh nice, that looks miles better! I'm almost tempted to try it on mine...

Actually I'm not doing much on cars right now. Moved in with the in-laws after selling our house, so that sort of thing has ground to a halt. But, there are basically always rattles and odd noises from any car that I own

Hey buddy, it's great to have finally found your build thread. Believe we spoke early in the day back at the last Sunday Scramble. You caught me looking over the E91 and said to me I was the first person that day to stop and look it over.

Really is great to see deeper into the build after our conversation back then. And I can thank you again for your advice with E91.

Every time I see these UK cars I'm a little sad knowing that when they have to go to car heaven [the junk yard] they are going with likely mint left front seats.

Hehe! And likewise. Maybe we should start solely shipping seats across the seas?

That said, the fronts in mine were originally Dakota Beige which I recoloured over a couple of days. They're holding up really well so far and it's certainly knocked years off the driver's seat especially.

It's been a while! I haven't really made any changes lately, so please enjoy some pics from the BMW M Meet at Bicester last year. Cripes, it has been a long time.

Very poor form of me not to add anything for so long, but hey ho, here we go.

Love the wheels, I have the same. I my opinion though, you need the BMW Motorsports stickers on them.

Hi,

I'm about to hook up my own version of this setup. Where did you get your power from?
If we can be a bit more detailed that'd be awesome, literally wondering which wire haha

Cheers,

So my cars about a 1 out of 10, as the wheels are OK, but I get a point knocked off for missing decals?

Cheers! Yeah, it's safe to say it's had some TLC over the last couple of years.

For the moment it's pretty much where I want it, so updates might be a bit few and far between on here. Until I find some LCI xenons that is... or a split arm rest... or some 219/260's... or some more M Performance bits... or maybe CIC at a decent price... oh, and a Diamant or Piano center console trim...
