That's interesting to know, thanks.
Presume it must have something to do with US versus UK legislation?

I had no problem setting true speed on my e90 US version using Carly for both the digital and analog gauge.
I even ran one at true and the other at adjusted speed for a while. |

But I have Carly Pro and I can confirm the velocity "v" setting can be set to true speed. |

Are you sure? Even Carly's website says true speed is not available for the analog needle in the USA. True speed is only available for the digital V speed.

OK.
So I coded to get the digital speed without correction. My Analog shows 46 Digital shows 44 OBD shows 42... The car knows exactly how fast it is going. I have verified the OBD speed many times and it is dead nuts on. What the heck.. So I have three different speeds to look at now. I can't say this gives me any confidence in the brand. BMW: JUST TELL ME HOW FAST I AM GOING!!!! |

I have def set my digital speedo to read true speed using Carly, but then I set them back as I prefer to have the false speed to save me from speeding too crazily lol.

US cars' analog speedometers cannot be programmed to the true speed but the digital can. Too many ambulance chasers in the U.S. |

On the old E series cars, setting speed correction to not active was not enough. The impulse rate for the tachometer has to be corrected as well. Look for these values in NCS dummy and NCS expert BC_V_KORREKTUR nicht_aktiv K_ZAHL_TACHO 4961_imp/km K_ZAHL_TACHO_KOMPL 4961_imp/km K_ZAHL_WEG 4716_imp/km K_ZAHL_WEG_KOMPL 4716_imp/km Setting these settings to match these values will get you very close to the actual speed of the car. Some people report that within 1 mph but not perfect. Beware that these values are not present for all E series cars but for most. If you are using Carly or Bimmercode or any other kindergarten coding app, you might be limited on what you can do. Get the good stuff. Yeah, it is a more steep learning curve but also more powerful and insightful than the apps. Last edited by MSport_Jon; 08-18-2022 at 09:03 AM.. |

That isn't true of my 2011 e91 or 2011 e88. I have the option for uncorrected speed for both the analog speedo and the digital readout in the dash. And it works just fine, both are spot on to my GPS when correction is disabled. Is this one of those varies by year/software revision things?
I am the weird who likes it reading high, so I set it back. Makes me feel like I am going faster than I am with less chance of a ticket.
