Got a new license plate

Kind of good that I did--I have never ever touched it in over 11 years--two screws were about to fall out! (was someone messing or vibration over the years?)

Also now I see how it's attached, makes sense. Many cars have the screws go right into the body. I think BMW was smart in having a bracket attach, then the plate screw in to the bracket.

btw why does BMW put a VIN sticker there? I have seen it many times I admit at the dealer lots, never knew why.

You don't have a license plate frame?

I do....if 4 screws are removed to take the plate off, now there is a plastic rectangular frame under it, that the screws go into. This, has 2 screws attaching it to the trunk area. Many cars don't have that, and have the plate screw directly into the trunk area. I figure it's good design on BMWs part because if a car were to change hands a lot, there is likely a chance of overtightening and stripping. So with BMW, the frame is ruined and just get a new one. On the other cars, they probably drive a larger screw into the hole(s)...

I finally realized you were discussing the rear plate. IIRC machine screws fix the rear plate holder to the trunk. Every car I have I swap out whatever plate screws with stainless steel.
