It's from the BMW site and it's exactly what DTC is, don't let the 1 series tards fool you.

I guess this "electronically slows the spinning inside rear wheel" can mean both DTC and electronic diff. I have no facts but I'm leaning towards the DTC. This functionality is implemented in 335i, too (since march 2007 I guess) and it causes the fact this is the first car which wears down the real brake pads faster like the fronts.
Before further argueing go and get exact facts from BMW or some educated dealers, this is all only speculations and unsupported guesses on both fronts.

Either way, it's no replacement for a true limited slip, although nicer than an open diff. I think O-cha is correct in one sense. It's marketing to a point. It probably cost very little to make this program, seeing it likely ustilizes all existing components, and just has a new program. I'll still take it over a standard open diff though. |

juicy and mostly off-topic.
So lets get back to the topic and U can open a new thread about the potencial electronic diff in the under the hood forum. I am really curious to see the new intake mounted in the 335i and also to see the dyno results of it (25% better flow promised, I wonder what does that mean in practise) on a stock car and on a tuned one. march 2008?

The intake looks similar to the one for the E46, which I believe costs $895 MSRP. So you can plan around that number.
Also, the way I read the comments on the CF strut tower brace, it still doesn't fit the 335 (nor the 135). Just by looking at it, it has identical dimensions to the aluminum one, so there's no reason why it should fit, when the alu one doesn't. Expect the seats to be mega-$, I would not be surprised if they were over $3k. And based on the price of the OEM M steering wheel and E46 ZHP steering wheel, this one will probably be well over $600... These things are nice, but expensive to get a la carte. If BMW came up with a "ZHP" model to include most of them, they would cost a little less (deducting some of the cost of the regular items). |

I'm trying to figure out what those seats would look like in a 3-series. I'm pretty sure if someone put sparco's/recaro's in their daily driven 3 series, people would claim "rice." But these are okay because it says "BMW Performance" on it? Hahahah, give me a break.
The wheel looks pretty cool, although I'm not sure how much use i'd ever get out of it. It would've been nice of them to finally put a boost gauge on it. But I don't see myself looking at the top of the steering wheel unless the display is really easy to read on the fly.

I believe it is a new design with part #'s for the 135 and 335. Also, if you search fleabay, the part is actually out there for sale...and it says for 335's.

the catalog says it's NOT for 135i nor 335i. Obvious reasons - clearance, interferes with that damn oil cap. But the aluminium SB could be fitted, I believe this can be fitted as well, just that oil cap...

OK so as soon as these part become available and someone begins selling these on the forum write me up for that steering wheel! That would probably make me # 1 on the list.....waiting list that is!

We are not saying it a radical departure, but you really need to give credit where credit is due. It's new and better (ie DIFFERENT), deal with it! Why this makes you so made is beyound me. Your first post over there got locked without even a reply! |

I want to know if the performance intake will have room for the strut brace. Poor design on the stock one in that regard.

there is a new strut brace in the catalog, too. They say it's for all models and engines except the N54.
The clearance issue has been already solved (or a workaround was found -> DYI forum). The remaining issue is the oil cap covered by the brace. Pretty uncomfy to remove it for every oil change...

No, BMW Performance is the dumbas$ for not developing and marketing an intake -- and a tune, and a proper suspension package, and a brake kit, and a LSD, and ... -- for the 335 by now. OK, so they would not sell many cf fancied up rigs @ $800+. But a functional -- remember, freude am fahren??? -- performance @ <$500? They would have sold hundreds by now. I would be curious to see how big the mod market is for the E9x. How many sales (lost $) have been missed by the delays?
