Well I have now got a Dension Gateway 500 on the way. Been looking around and it seems it might be best to have a CD changer installed if coding is done by the stealer?

TBH it depends how nice your dealer is, my 2 were happy to do the most block wiring and code the cd changer.
IMO find someone who will be happy to change the MOST block, call around indys and sound specialist people. All you want to do is add the cd changer into the loop. Then 15 mins to code it with autologic, make sure dension tab is chosen.

Basically this is your car atm
As you can see the cd changer loom is there along with the fibreoptics but it isn't in the loop. So you want to pull the back bolster off and add the cd changers fibreoptics into the loop. You do this by taking the fibreoptics and adding it in the LIVE LOOP box behind the bolster. Currently the cd changer is in the DEAD LOOP box which sits on top of the live one. So take out the dead one, take out the 2 ends of the fibreoptics, and put them in the live loops box. You are then left with this You then want to code the car as a dension/IPOd and plug it all up.

Makes sense! Do the 2 ends that are dead and not in the loop have to go in any certain orientaion in the live loop? OR does it not matter?

OK Dension is now installed, along with the MOST connection. I had 2 less green optical fibres so I just followed the same principle above but 1 row down obviously. I have light at the plug end going into the Dension and no faults showing on the idrive. So based on this I am hoping this is now installed correctly with just the coding to do. This will be done on Thursday @ PCS. I noticed there is nothing else in the entertainment list on the idrive, I guess its still hidden till coded.

Hi I've got a few q's
How long did the install take? Did you get the ipod connector routed through to the armrest?, are there any guides for remvoing the trim, what about the power where did you tap into? I may have a go with mine tonight if its not too cold out. Cheers, Rob At least I'll have a bit less wiring as I've got a cd changer. |

The lead from the Dension to the ipod is short, around 50cm which of course won't reach the armrest. The USB cable might reach though.. I've put my ipod in the back where the side opening is for the first aid kit. Because you have a CDC the plug going into this will have your optic fibres and power. Its all in 1 plug but there acutally 3 pieces to it. So assuming your using the CDC you will need to tap into the power wire. If not then read below. The main housing then 1 connector for power with a red/black and brown wire (+12 & -ve respectivley) and then your fibre optics. These can all be removes from the main housing/block. You will see there are tounges which clip them in so you can remove them. This is what I had due to the fact my car has no CDC. So all you will need to do is tap into the existing cable powering your CDC. Splice it or solder/heatshrink to power it up. Removing the trim.. Fold the seat down, get your fingers slipped through the side and a give it a gentle tug at the top so it comes out from where the seat belt retracts in, then you should be able to lift it out.. albiet with marginal force Confirmation of the ipod working prior to coding - the ipod should charge and show dension on the screen. Obviously if you get a error/fault then the MOST connection has been done incorrectly. |

UPDATE:
Dension has been coded, it doesn't work because the ebay seller whom I purchased the Dension 500 from didn't send me the Aux in box. I didn't know it was required, but anyway I will just have to get that from the seller and plug it in, everything else is done and ready! Nearly there lol |
