Winter tires on stock 18's

Looking for snow tires for my '07 e92 335i, im planning on putting winters on the stock 18's i have now then getting some new 19's in the spring. My question is how much clearance do i have regarding sidewall height on 18". Being on the north shore of lake erie id like to have the car sitting as high as it can possibly be for the most ground clearance but also obviously not have any rubbing issues. Im aware my speedo will be out a bit but im assuming it can be recalibrated, if not its not a big deal anyway. i was thinking like a 225/55/18? Maybe even taller? Ive seen people go wider but i wanna keep the narrowness for cutting through the snow if that makes any sense lol. Anyone who can help it would be greatly appreciated!

225 45 18 on mine in the front. Impossible to fit a 55 or even a 50 unless it's on 17s!

Same comment. I'm running 225/45 front and 245/40 rear. I have rubbing in the front, on the little radiator shroud.

I have exactly the same set up as urs, and my front rubs the oil cooler vent thing. :-) ....just my winter set up so I'm not bothered.
